Personally, I will try Knights of St John or the Golden Horde, because I have never played them in a game before.

Does the game give you any background on the power you play with.

I don't have a specific list with countries ahead of others, except 2.

In order,
1. France
2. Prussia (Someone can confirm what is the difference between Prussia and Brandenburg in the game, about military?) I would like to recreate a German Empire.

After this, some countries are interesting (not necessarily in order)
1- Austria (a good challenge)
2- An Italian State (Genes, Milan, Naples)
3- A German State, except Prussia (Hanovre, Bavaria)
4- Danemark and/or Sweden

And probably others I should know the day I will have this game...

P.S.:We could hold a survey to determine the most popular country and the least one (major and minor countries)

Well, I guess I might not be the right person to answer this question, since I already own the game.

But, after reading a ceartain AAR on this board, I would love to play as the Knights of Saint John.

If you play as the Knights of Saint John, though, you have to edit the files and, as far as I know, you won't get any background information if you're not editing them yourself.

As far as I know, this is a fact. I do live in Sweden so I have to translate constantly between Swedish-English. But if the Knights of Saint John is what I think it is, and I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one, it's a small island south-west of Turkey.

And, no, you can't play this one in the regular game. People on this board says it's quite easy to edit the files yourself, and I'm still looking into it (I'm not very smart when it comes to editing though).

Anyway, there will most probably be a scenario sooner or later on this site that lets you play as the Knights of Saint John.

PS. Your signature tells me you might be a fan of Rowan Atkinson. Is this true? He's a great comedian! DS.

It looks like the mongols are not available in this game but i could play the golden horde i guess. I thought my first eu game should commemorate that of my favorite game called ghengis khan. Or ill just play japan and commemorate nabunagas ambition also a favorite of mine of old.

I am playing England, I am like 75% English and very proud of it. Does anyone know when it comes out for us Americans? When you battle does it show a scene? Do you control your troops during battle?

Prussia in GC is a vassal of Poland, Brandenburg is independent.. It comes from history. Electorial Prussia was a vassal of Poland till 1650 at with Sweden overran the former. Brandenburg was independent of Prussia for long time. So the difference in the game is that we are talking about two different countries.

As a Dane I´ll definetly play Denmark in the GC, but I envision trying most of the major powers.

Based on what Ive been able to gather on this forum and from previews etc. (EU comes to Denmark 1/3) one of the major strenghts of EU is that the geopolitical situation of the differing counties varies to such an extent that playing say Austria or Spain is nearly 2 different games.

So while playing AOK or CIV2 one finds a favorite country or tribe, that in a minor way differs from other countries/tribes I believe that the differences in EU is much greater.

I hope when I pick up my copy on the 1 marts the game will live up to the above expectations and that I will for once have a game that can last in replayability for a long while.

Poland, then Sweden, Denmark, Portugal in that order and then probably every other conceivable position major and minor. The first four are easy to play at one or another period of their development, but not so nice or easy in the rest. Great question.
