I just don't see why we'd assume everyone can enslave when there's no indication that it isn't still an Authoritarian/Xenophobe thing.

Like, yeah, it'd be cool if it was available more broadly maybe- but Wiz made it clear he wants every Ethos to have unique mechanics, so...

Slavery is still Authoritarian/Xenophobe specific. Caste System is Auth. slavery, setting species rights to "Slaves" is Xenophobe slavery. Both ethics have tooltips in the stream saying they enable those policies.

I made one Fanatic Spiritualist & Collectivist Empire, I guess I could rework that to an Authoritarian Spiritualist one. I gave them a Spiritualist Oligarchy as their starting government, perhaps their story will be that one day their leader declared himself the God Emperor and disbanded the council.

Fanatical xenophobe/militarists, star empire. Going right for the supremacist traditions, to cut giant chunks of territory out of the galaxy.
The xeno scum will literally feed the war machine with their flesh and labour.

Going to run Despotic Empire here (please have a good bonus; I miss building cost reduction). Argh! This is where I need ALL the information. Gov'ts, Ethos, traits! I can't decide. I really like my Fanatic Militarist, Xenophobes right now. However, the Authoritarian description (non fanatic; need to see fanatic) is far too perfect for my headcanon of this species right now. I don't know what I'd drop to take it though or if to make Authoritarian my Fanatic trait. I'd be worried about losing the Fanatic Militarist Edict too as I find it a good fit for these guys.

Been running these guys as rule the galaxy under their Emperor (with trust and obedience in the gov't) with Aliens only deserving to be enslaved. Though I've been wanting to experiment more with them. Have them let another species prove themselves. Battle Thralls gaining secondary citizenship/full military service would be perfect but if I'm Xenophobe Full Military Service is not allowed to Xenos so that stinks (seen from the streams so far). Purging is typically reserved for the most threatening or reprehensible or aggravating of Xenos. Armageddon Bombardment will be allowed in wartime though. Unless you're the splinter empire under the emperor's daughter who have no problem purging every last one of them at any time.

Xenophobe might have to go for the main empire but the three Ethos combo (Authoritarian. Xenophobe, Militarist) from the stream looks very enticing. Just no fanatic edicts/bonuses so that would be really sad to miss out.

*sigh* This main empire and the four splinter empires from them are going to need major looking at when 1.5/Utopia hits. Need AI personality changes info desperately too. I'm going to spend an entire day or two readjusting all of other my custom empires too. Paradox made the empire creator far, far too addicting.

Space Communism. What else did you expect?
Proper Communism is Egalitarian society with Utopian living standards.

On the other hand Totalitarian Dictatorship with abolished private ownership could be cool, but Stellaris cannot emulate something like this.

BTW, why everyone so focused on Militarist ethos for their conquest as Authoritarians? From all PDX games (well, maybe aside from HoI) i got that it's all about securing your conquest, and not about conquest itself. Basically stopping the unrest on new territories. How Militarism help with that? The only thing that comes to mind is more effective\cheaper land armies to control unrest (and related tech to show more often), but that's all. The core is stronger economy.

If you're going for conquest using Vassals, i really see no strong reason to go Authoritarian. You can do it, but other ethos fit there better than Authoritarian (actually, in this case F. Militarists does make sense)

For me, I actually care more about war than I do about empire. I like roleplaying cultures for which war is so ingrained into society, that state exams are wargames, "College" is just "Officer school", and racial and sexual equality comes from comradery (I like playing as Xenophiles). Of course, for myself, that is usually a democratic stratocracy, rather than a dictatorship. War is pretty shallow in this game, but others like me could just like the idea of "taking on the galaxy" with military might.

As for dictatorship, I most certainly will focus on Xenophobe, and either Spiritualist or Materialist based on how I want to subjugate people. Materialist means I will really be picking on primitives in an almost sadistic manner (forget the "almost"), and spiritualist will mean I plan on being sadistic towards my neighbors. If I'm going to be a dictatorship, I have to be as evil as possible (because that is the trope), and then I care more about inflicting pain rather than running an effective state.

I'll sell cheap cash crops to fallen empire's manufactories, embezzle the profits and blame it on poor trade deals. I'll use the money to reward myself and my loyal cronies and henchmen. And of course to opress the so called "opposition".

Yeah I'm really unispired.

I'm sure the Communist party in China gives utopian living standards and freedom right.

Authoritarian Xenophobe Spiritualists.

Suffer not the xeno to live. Enslave them all until I can get a large enough fleet to disregard diplomacy, then cleanse the galaxy

Wouldn`t you need to put at least one point in militarist so you can have a better navy ?

It's a fair point. Playing with f militarist atm and it's scary powerful. Might start militarist and switch to spiritualist. Decisions decisions.

That is a fair point.

Given the goodies Spiritualists and Materialists are getting via Psionics and Cibernetisation I bet that Militarists will get access to some buffs to navies and, why not, more ships types.
