We currently have not so much Idea groups I think..
Paradox really have to add some more..

Maybe a new points section could be added?

We currently have Admin, Diplo, Mil..

What about a new one? What could bring a major change to add much more flavor to EU IV?

I don't know, I don't like idea groups as they just give you a buff for giving you a buff's sake. I don't like the linear "progress" of idea groups and would rather prefer the "less is more" strategy of having less ideas but more impact...Somewhere in-between EU3 and EU4. Also, I liked the concept of having tradeoffs in EU3's sliders, and I think this should somehow be reflected with ideas as well.

for example, if you take offensive, it should give you perks to actually fighting an offensive war and limit you when fighting defensive war and vice versa. Currently, defensive doesn't help you fight a defensive war anymore than a offensive idea would (and some would say less)...they are both military buffs that just increase your entire war fighting capability, regardless of strategy

Apart from other things: A modernization mechanic. It would be slower than westernization but have much less bad events and not counting on being behind in tech.
Westernized/ modernized muslim nations should be capped at -75% piety but have events either gain more piety or get unrest/ lose piety.

If they get too pious then they lose their advanced state.

I think that there is a reason for Paradox to have so much news provinces. Their idea is to have more room to create specific DLCs in areas (India, China, SouthAmerica...)

I bet on Indian region, lot of possibilities, space,....

Better naval system, better colony system, stability as a process just like rebels are now.

And a simple dinasty system to allow more interesting pretender revolts and wars of succession.

A 1399 start would be really nice.

I could understand them not wanting that to work with achievements though because things like the Golden Horde achievement would become significantly easier and thus "less of an achievement"... but as long as there was a good way to indicate to the players that ONLY the 1444 start counts for achievements, then I think it'd be fine.

Though I'm sure there are mods that do this, anyway.

-1399 Starting Date
-Dynamic COT gain and loss
-A bit more detailed Dynasty Options
-More Detailed Country Administration
-Research and Ideas linked somehow to "Country Size"/"Provinces (again dynamic as with COT)". And also like in HOI that Practical Experience should somehow affect Reserach. So far only the Ideas give 2% discount (whats great) but i.e. that Naval and Military Tradition would affect the cost of Military and Naval Ideas ... or the amount of colonies affecting the cost of Colonial/Naval Ideas etc.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that... I'd really like to see some more detailed info on heir succession. It shouldn't be a mystery if you have a second heir in line. It would help you prepare a little better in deciding if you can get away with using your heir as a general and what to do when you get "heir falls ill". It'd also help with planning out personal unions. So yeah, a full heir succession line would be great, but even seeing a second heir in-line I'd be cool with.

A full on family tree would be "neat", but also unnecessary (and that's more Crusader Kings territory anyway).

Well since I can make lists...
1. All the protestant denominations. All of them.
2. More cultures
3. Modernization rather than westernization
4. Some form of dynamic basetax
5. More trade goods (rice, millet, beer, silver, gems, livestock)

Couple things:

What difference is modernization vs westernization in Eu4's timeframe?
trade goods themselves are pointless, its just the value of them that are increased and decreased by events. I don't see how adding more would do anything unless V2 style economy was implemented where there was supply and demand
hurricanes seem like a pretty bad idea

Everything else I like though

Modernization along the lines of hypothetical new world colonization by people outside the western tech group say Russia or Morocco. Also the Steppe Hordes cribbing off of Russia so to speak. Idk
Trade goods is more me being a nerd and something I liked from VeF.
Hurricanes is mostly my local biasis, they have the potential to really screw up colonies in the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico region. Also there was a really powerful hurricane that hit New England in 1635.

Who cares about Muscovy. I am always annoyed to see them destroying Novgorod & effortlessly crushing everyone in their path each game, & go out to bring them down to size when I can. The Ottomans as well. I like playing a game when different outcomes occur each game, not the same old boring countries rising to power each game. Another reason not to use Lucky Nations as well.
Now Ai muscovy is a threat no more for anyone, they usually get beated from the beginning to let castille or portugal colonize siberia again, every game ;)
