Utterly abysmal. Nothing that needed to be fixed was fixed. Supply is still a complete and utter mess. Large borders are now harder to manage due to the command system. Command points might as well be useless.

The AI is, if anything, worse now. Its not longer suicidal, but it no longer does anything. Played through to mid 1940's and not a single country could push another country. Everything just sat there, the most boring WW2 that ever occurred. Sure everyone was technically at war with everyone else, but no one could do anything. Its not like defense wasn't OP as is, so why not nerf every single offensive option, what did they think was going to happen apart from the game grinding to a complete halt?

And then of course we had the long forum post about 'difficulty' where the devs showed how everyone plays regular, and the thread filled with explanations of how veteran makes the game less interesting as you don't get to build anything but infantry/arty. So what's their brilliant solution? Make the negative modifiers even worse, doubling down on the exact same problem, and then nerfing resource acquisition on top of that, because apparently the entire tech tree is just there for decoration and we aren't meant to actually ever build or field anything but infantry and artillery and maybe 10 light tanks. BRILLIANT MOVE!!!

Might as well just rename this to 'the most tedious and boring WW2 game you will ever experience'. Excel is more exciting than this game at this point...

Field marshells need to be able to take 72 divisions, because the current system is really annoying. I also hate suddenly realising that 24 divisions are concentrated in a few provinces while the enemy is marching through holes in my line where 8 divisions are defending several states. There are a few other major problems like MEFO bills being OP, but overall, the update has potential.

Teething bugs need to go now as well.

You need to balance historical accuracy and gameplay, and right now managing 200-300 divisions with this system is a headache.
Want 12 divisions per general? nice, do it, but give me the option to reduce the micromanagement mess the battleplaner has become.

In my opinion there is less micro management. Just split up all your divisions in to each general and assign them to a Field Marshal. Then just make a front line with the Field Marshal and you are done. Pre-1.5 you had to make front lines for each general. That was more work. Now I even have time to name all my armies and armygroups.

That should be true, but the frontline ai screws up and often assigns 1 army to a huge front, while another to a few provinces. It creates holes in your front allot, which the new ai (and players) exploit easily). I think the frontline ai could handle it if each army gets an identical front line (so if you have 4 armies under 1 field marshall, your 4 armies would all have the same front and be spread along that) and field marshalls comanding an army could handle up to 72 divisions.

I'm playing my first game in WTT as USA. It's July '42 and Germany just put Moscow in the rear-view mirror. Also, Japan has taken out the Raj.

I have played 3 games so far and in each game Japan has won the war in China before 1941.
I don't know if this is random but 3/3 gives you already an idea... Does Japan have to be nerfed?

And what's up with the lag in 1936? It's like being in 1942 in 1.4

It may have less to do with the power of Japan than the weakness of China. All the new penalties and the like (corrupt army, etc.) seems to really undermine AI China.

Most people experience over all better performance. Problem is probably on your end. And also stop playing at speed 5. Its suppose to be a performance hit on speed 5.

I love the expansion, so many great changes.

Limited number of special forces, slower combat pace, revamped marshals (altho a bit dumb sometimes) .

Features that were added are great, just waiting for a few bugfixes.

Other than that I'm not sure everything seems okay. I'm a bit upset there was only 3 new tracks added for Waking the Tiger but I do realise these take ages to compose and record, mix and master. I would have liked more Far-Eastern music added to the game.

I have to agree with this to some degree. Maybe its simply because I really like the new tracks that I was disappointed that there is only 3 (right?) Eastern songs for the game.

I know that, but the ai can't handle those front lines properly. Look at what I wrote earlier. Field Marshalls can command an army group of 5x24, but should be able to also command an army with 72 divisions in it.

Ah yes, Finngolians knows their place as an Asiatic people. And tof course the famous Chinese communist Chiang Kai-Check. Now I can't conquer all of China. Thanks for wasting three hours of my life in Ironman.

Historical is on. Needless to say I am quite disappointed. Paradox has added some nice features but turds in the bottom of the pool that has been there since the beginning is still there. WHY Does Finland, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria join GEACPS? And WHY WHYYYYYY does Mr Chiang go communist????? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Empire of the Sun is brilliant. Andreas Waldetoft doesn't get enough credit for his compositions.

I've had a few games on historical where things have gone completely crazy, the features added are a step in the right direction for content but I feel like the key problems with the game still remain.

My impression is that DLC and covering for exploits is a higher development priority than fixing core mechanics that have been bugged by any coherent standard since patch 1.0.

Some of the changes are good, but soured by the reality that the game working is not a high priority nor could anybody credibly claim otherwise while land arbitrarily transfers with the slightest hint of military access.

What I like:

The Kaiser tree. Its very fun for singleplayer. Thats all I have to comment on trees.

The commander character arc system is nice. I like the idea, and with a little more XP gain it will be great.

What I do not like is best exemplified by this post. I play almost exclusively MP, and my game quality has gone significantly down over the past few days.

I am super disappointed:
Pros:
the new factory setup being able to put 150 on 1 line is cool
the new command feature
being able to assign an air force to an army/ new air interface
Cons:
I'm not going to list a ton just a few low spots for me
Japan rolls china super fast
Suffering massive losses affects war participation in a weird way so your moron Italian allies have what participation score for loosing 500k men in the alps.
The AI I have not played for a year and the division designing to the not building certain things is just well disappointing
well that is it for me right now I am wondering if these things are ever going to be fixed I don't know i don't want to bash paradox but this game has been out for awhile now
and I am not seeing progress in the right direction I am trying not to sound manic but shoot this stinks.

You don't sound manic at all. The original problems are still there. Or new goofiness is introduced in each update. I think if they could have fixed things they would have done it by now.
