I like the Italian focus tree and new decision a lot, provides a lot of fun options and depth to the nation. Air designer is fun to play with thought sometimes it's a bit overwheming. I haven't got too deep with the peace conference yet so no comment here. I haven't really experienced a lot of bugs either. SO overall quite satisfied with the new DLC!

Well... the new mechanics go into the right direction, yet there is still some number-tuning necessary (is there any use in 1-Engine fighters?). What actually led me (or better the little Sheldon in me) drop the game for a while was the lock of the 2D-planes in the designer/production window - they are straight away ugly. So I will wait for > 1.12.5 and an updated version of Lamp's Eqpt Icons and see again. While this sounds a bit negative, I’m sure BBA will provide the next 200 hours of enjoyable gameplay, but not in the next few month.

Its good so far, but the Air Wing/Design needs some help. The tags are not good, they are hard to see/read as well as not making much sense. There also needs to be a way to set obtained planes tags. If I set which tag is for an air wing I would imagine that the planes should switch over.

Well, most of all, it is so buggy code-wise that the game is absolutelly unplayable now.

Management of Division Generals is way too much micro.
Peace conferences are not very intutive.
UI of Balance of Power is terrible, I have played Swtzerland and did not understand the politics mechanics at all.
Planes - cool, no problem. Maybe except be able to set which kind of planes I want in which fromations, but I think I got that.

Seems good, it just needs a LOT of balance work. Small Fighters are pointless, B-29s are the prefered Naval Bomber, and SHBBs have increased chance of getting crit for... some reason?

CVs dont work, but those have always been a buggy mess (CV fighters dont launch vs land based Naval Bombers...)

Otherwise? Its quite nice. Multirole planes now exist (my strat bombers ARE my recon now), naval rework... worked (once they FIX CVs! AGAIN!). Italy is fun, Ethiopia is interesting, Switzerland is cool.

My only real unfixable gripe is the expansion of fixed template units. They will likely not be updated as the game goes forwards, so they will lose utility over time. At LEAST let us delete them at will.

Air designer could use a balance pass, which has started at least. All sorts of wildly ahistorical outcomes there.

Carriers are all sorts of broken (carrier fighters don't launch vs land based craft, carrier naval bombers don't do damage in naval combat), which is a big problem for me personally but that'll get sorted I'm sure.

Balance of power is terrible. The feature is unnecessary.
The other features are good, but there are way too many bugs in this DLC/patch.
The balance still needs a little work.

Light fighters were actually trading IC efficient against basically anything with the right design, and the balance patch seems to have reinforced that. It's gonna take time to shake out how things should be. Bombers definitely seem disgusting now though. They could be bad enough in the old system, but since you can minmax them even harder now, the 5000km range NAVs and giga CAS are really quite dumb.

Ethiopia is... fun to fight Italy but feels really boring after. Italy seems cool, kinda cracked though. Switzerland is weird in that it seems to have some super busted mechanics but I just have 0 desire to play it, and the options of what to actually do feels pretty uninspired. It's very lame IMO that they didn't give Italian East Africa a tree. You could basically copy-paste the Ethiopian industry tree and add a simple political tree and it'd be neat.

Probably my new least favorite dlc and patch.

Air Designer - its fine, I guess? It lacks a lot of components it really should have and you can't make distinction between different historical plains because of it. Balance is bad but I'm sure that will be fixed with a few patches, the lack of flavor or components to make planes distinct from one another I doubt.

Ait Wing Overhaul - pretty awful, its like having a spider in a corner and shooting it with a gun to kill it, sure AI doesn't overcrowded airports now but that was always a minor issue to me. Not being able to make small stacks of nav's or transport plains is unrealistic and irritating. Playing as a any minor where you have a small airforce but several zones is a exercise in pain.

Peace Conferences - with the new hotfix its ok, the inability to finish off nations in peace deals is still game breaking though, like literally its creating so many rump states the game slows down to the point of being unplayable.

Occupation Laws Changes - its more historical which I like, civilian should not just outperform everything in ~2 years. However for so many achievements requiring large conquest as minors the additional losses under all laws is very painful. It feels like a good change when I played a major but I think it will make minors irritating to play.

Switzerland - I played fascist path its not fun. You don't get any research slots and are stuck at 3 forever. You also end up hitting like 70% fascist but still cant flip gov type, and when you join the war your army and industry is a complete joke because you just don't have any. I haven't tried the other too so I wont critique although there is only 1 possible research slot on democratic which again feels like a mistake.

Ethiopia - I did fighting Italy without international help it was quite fun, really back and forth some interesting missions and focuses and eventually pushing the Italians back. Post Italian war though its kind just pain you only start with 2 and I think your capped at 3 research slots. Which again is horrible because you cant do anything interesting at that point no time for anything but industry and infantry equipment.

Italy - I did historical with Mussolini. I thought it was fine not much different then pre patch tbh. The war in Ethiopia is harder but I still easily won it before they could get a gov in exile and just ignored some missions to raise compliance and focused on Italy itself. I think the boost you get and the country modifiers make you a bit weaker than you where before the patch, don't know how I feel about that in terms of game balance but from a historical perspective its not bad. Hoped it would be more fun but it was still fine.

Balance of Power - Pretty boring in Italy, seems more important in non-historical though so maybe that's just me. Switzerland as the player you just want it to go to the other side bit better still pretty uninteresting. Ethiopia's is actually good serious consideration of if I could give up military bonuses to get better future potential and meaningfully impacted focus tree.

Overall maybe 3/10? Some of the focus trees are good but the game overall feels worse mainly due to the stuff introduced in the patch. Airplane designer needs a lot of work balance + more flavor and components. Air rework needs to be reworked.

That is not entirely true. It is stronger to call bomber to help from carrier 100km nearby than 4000km far away airfield.
HoI4 teaches us it's all the same.

I wonder why didn't they make ships operate like that too - you'd sit in a port and project your shells up to your max nautical (not gun) range. That would also fit their other mechanics, like Naval Supremacy or newly introduced Allied Construction where 'matter' simply teleports right to the terminal point.
