The combination does work because that is what it is Armageddon with a mod called DH inside. Granted you would have a lot more bugs than you would with DH and you would miss a few of the upgrades, but it would still work as to how playable it would be is still questionable.

Have you tried/did that? If so I would like to see some screens and hear more about your porting experience. Post it in the mods sub-forum if you like. Thank you!

Edit: Sorry if this sounded harsh - I didn't meant to be (poor English on my side :( ). I'm just curious, nothing more :)

Simply not true. What he refers to, is the core version, which deliberately has most of DHs new features turned off.

That is my whole point, that the core of DH is nothing more than Armageddon 1.4 and that DH is just a Mod which you have to select in the launcher in order to have all of DH's new features and new map.

This does not mean it couldn't have been done the other way.

The only people who said that were some weird trolls pre release.

Perhaps you may be right there as it is obvious that you had to touch the engine in order to do the bug fixes you did, but can you really deny that at least 90% of DH lies in DH's mods folder.

Yes, I can. And I have a change log with 950+ engine changes and bug fixes since Armageddon 1.3 as a prove for that.

I'm afraid you miss the point why Darkest Hour engine is so highly compatible with Armageddon 1.3 and all mods based on it. It is not because we haven't changed the engine, but because we did it in a way to preserve this compatibility. It is a design decision and believe it or not is it harder to do it that way, then to scratch all compatibility and just add hard-coded stuff into the engine.
