I hear people saying that they can play stellaris 2.2.x in the huge galaxy on grand admiral with no performance drop, I simply can't believe it... max. i can do is 400(grand admiral, all other stat default) stars
and the best for me is 200 only on 200 stars galaxy I have no performance drop...
is that is a normal thing or my system somewhat not good enough?

btw fleets on 2.2 give massive lag, especially when big fleets engage in a fight...

I suspect that a lot of the discrepancies in performance reports comes from just how much stuttering people find acceptable on different speeds, I have the same GPU(though I think that the GPU has less significance for this game) but a 7600k and 16GB DDR4 and I get varrying levels of lag on larger galaxies. Though since the last two patches(including the beta) I've been playing 200-400 size galaxies(more for flavor than performance) so I haven't tried bigger settings recently.

Nobody making the claim that they get "smooth" performance on a Huge galaxy has been able to prove it. When they upload a video, there are huge slowdowns, and all we learn is that people have differing levels of attention to detail.

Unfortunately we just have to wait for PDX to make improvements, or for Stellaris 2 to ship on a different game engine.

thanks for the answers, :) well i my chase the lagg is the biggest problem of every run... I wonder if developers are ever willing to stop making new DLC. and actually, fix the game for once... I love the new economy, but the bugs and lagg it brings... :) well is the paradox, after all, can't expect anything more... :) :D

If they could fix the LAG with bigger Galaxies and games withing Stellaris....I would put Stellaris at a 5 Star rating pretty much whatever else they do, but the lag is ultimately the problem that plagues me every game. I even went and dropped $4k on a new high end gaming rig to help reduce the lag as I like this game that much. PLEASE Dev team, concentrate on this aspect and really try to reduce it.

Just curious; what CPU did you have before, what do you have now, and how much did it help?

Well, on the worse rigs, we saw the base speed drop so low that the stutter wasn't really worth noticing. When it's taking three seconds per game-day, the first day of the month taking four seconds isn't your problem.

Old System

CPU: Intel I7-7700HQ Processor a
GPU NVIDIA GTX-1050M 4GB video card
Mem: 16GB 1333MHz DDR4
HDD: 1TB SATA III SSD.

New System

CPU: Intel I9-9900K
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA RTX-2080XC 8GB RAM
Mem: HyperX - 32GB 3200MHz DDR4
HDD: OS - 512GB SAMSUNG 970 PRO PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
HDD2: Apps: 1TB Samsung 860 EVO Series SATA-III SSD (Plus 32GB Intel Optane Memory SSD Acceleration 4X Faster (Secondary Storage Drive)

I was getting major lag about 120 years in on large and mid size galaxy in old config.
I am now getting significant lag at 350 years on Large sized galaxys

I've got an older system myself and I'm seeing a TON of peaks & valleys in performance. Wound up breaking out FRAPS and graphed my frame interval timing. I'm getting so many quasi-frequent stutters that I've accepted it as "just how things are" even though other metrics like real-time-seconds-per-game-month seem OK to me. I am getting periodic larger stutters HOWEVER those larger stutters are getting lost-in-the-mix simply because the whole things stutters on my [6+ years] old system.

The "fix" for performance wont come until they make a sequel with an improved engine unfortunately, hopefully they wont introduce more lag like the initial trade route calculations did when 2.2 first launched however.

I hesitate to criticize their business model when they are also working on the base game with large patches in addition to the paid DLC content even if their quality testing leaves something to be desired.

I hope they can still manage to increase the overall performance with upcoming patches. With the beta updates I can't see that much of an increase, some games are still just too laggy to keep playing them.
In my first game in 2.2.5 I had 2 driven assimilators and another machine empire as well as 2 hive minds in a medium sized galaxy on grand admiral (with glavius AI) and with their insane pop growth (they had almost 2k pops each at the year 2300) the performance tanked so badly that I had only 15 FPS during the beginning of midgame.
I really want to play Stellaris, especially with big galaxies and lots of empires so that there is lots of stuff going on but if even small galaxies with very few empires don't really work that well I am somehow losing hope that Paradox will ever be able to fix the perfomance.
