Call me hipster, but i DO need obscure small nations to give me challenge. EU4 gets boring quickly without a challenge.

But to be a real Hipster you also need an obsession with 19th century facial hair, artisanal Beers, Bicycles etc. Essentially Belgian, Oh wait ... :D

But historically, Europe WAS dominant in this timeframe
That's not a fantasy or racist, it's true. Sometimes the truth is unfair.

Europe was not dominant. Advantaged? Yes. But dominance did not come until the 1800s with the Industrial Revolution.

so britain having almost all of india isn't dominant?
two entire new continents being under european rule isnt dominant?
having almost 80% of the world under european rule isnt dominant?
lol

But historically, Europe WAS dominant in this timeframe
That's not a fantasy or racist, it's true. Sometimes the truth is unfair.

it is not a question of dominance for ROTW players...

europe was dominant in the last patch, the patch before that, in eu2, in eu3....

the problem is the insane level of arbitrary (yes, meaningless) nerfs to countries that were already little more than 4-month wars for colonial powers.

the native american nerf being marginalised in favour of the eastern nerfs seems stupid to me...

the entire nerf's permanance factor seems stupid to me...

stupid as in, untenable, not productive, not adding gameplay mechanics, not adding flavour, not adding even a imminent mourning style nerf that i would actually find more fitting to the game.

in other words
it does

100%
nothing.
OTHER.
than.
limit.
the already
INCREDIBLY disadvantaged

do i want to conquer europe as iroquois? no
not particularly

but i WOULD perhaps
like to have a modicum of potential to NOT suck absolute BUTT, and completely devalue the CoN expansion, by making all the native mechanics virtually USELESS unless your goal is to be a OPM migrating to run away from the europeans into the badlands of america from 1444 to 1821...

in fact, i rather like playing as iroqouis, and just taking the area around the great lakes, and letting the colonials get the coast (all but manhattan to massachuesets, which i need for a teeny fleet)

and any time i palyed a native american my number one goal was to be as friendly as possible to the big bad americans, because i ALREADY had NO CHANCE of winning against them if GOD FORBID they sent a 5000 man army against my 30000 stack, in my home territory that is heavily forested....

and then

i turn and look at history
and the impact that the very federation of tribes im playing (yes the iroquois) were british allies in the american independance revolution.... and did some major damage in the forested areas of northern new york... :( because newsflash...
line infantry marches through woods ona thin path.

they cant just line up and fire at geurillas and magically get them through allt he trees, when they didnt even realize they were there. (try watching a movie called The Patriot" all of his tactics are essentially directly taken from the wars with iroqouis native tribes just a few decades earlier when they were sided with the french. not saying the MOVIE is a depiction of reality, but saying that if he was not you know, 1 man, and two teenage sons, but a 30,000 man army capable of attacking in many ways in many situations...you know

this puts an interesting idea into my head. AMBUSH mode for units in certain terrain types!!! where they can't move, but it maybe negates maneuver pip bonuses, or just lowers the attack width, but not powerfully, since ambushes aren't guaranteed! ;S) MAYBE even hides them when you are moving into a province, fog of war gone or NOT unless you have infiltrated that countries administration, in which case, a REAL bonus to the espianage system :DDD)

um... kind of lost focus... basically TL;DR - Because native americans already are and were the weakest people in the game, (and it makes sense to be) but making them weaker with such a crippling level of autonomy in the area with the worst economic basetaxes on the planet already, and half manpower when native provinces have like a HIGH of 70 manpower base... just makes me really upset, yknow? because, i mean... no one will get anything from trading with you anymore, because all your provinces are stuck at half everything, including production, so... there just IS NO PLAUSIBLE SITUATION in which playing iroquois is VIABLE AT ALL.

and THAT is what is bad about it. that and the fact that if you conquer something that even another native colonized not 2 days before you declare war on them, you don't get the modifier... >____>

i think that if they NEED this sort of nerf, they should implement it better at the very least...

PI could continue to buff ROTW, till they are nearly on par with Europe. They could massively boost tax base even further...

But then the game also has to introduce massive nerfs, like backwards cultures, poor tax collection rates, internal instability, failure to modernize, plagues, etc. you know for historical accuracy.

PI knew people did not want to play a game where a plague or famine suddenly wipes out half a players base tax.

At the end of the day it needs to be understood that these countries were for the most part monarchies where the leader is the near owner of the land of his kingdom. The monarch was not a map painter except in extreme circumstances, the monarchs wants were usually for some sort of material wealth. Many did not care for technology or other game mechanics. The game also does not stimulate how nobles jockey'd for position and would backstab the monarch. Which is a very important part of history.

about the nobles not jockeying for power against monarch,....
Play dutch republic :p it can give you a taste of that, and they are clearly not needed to be super nerfed by it.

but the bonus to north america to me...would be fine if they literally DID cut base tax in half.... that way, when someone conquers a colony you spend 2 years building and spend (more gold than you MAKE) each month to colonise... and they suddenly dont have the malus you had (EVEN IF THEY ARE OTHER NATIVE AMERICAN!!!!)

that is just not right. just wrong. wrong and wrong as wrong can get. bad :(

like is aid, i would be a good with it if this was a thing which did happen in a good way or reasoning... maybe just half it for everyone anyways... id ont know...

i would rather have half everything in america for everyone there, than half everything for stuff you work hard to colonise and then when someone else takes it cos you are low on funds and struggling to colonise a province as a OPM native american, to try and stop needing to migrate since you keep depleteing province resources... it makes the entire point of everything that i paid for in CoP <lol always that mistake>

VOID.

You guys want indigenous peoples competing against even 15th European war machines? Maybe some more ability to resist armies is in order or bigger attrition or similar mechanics to emulate the difficulty of going inland but I don't want to see Iroquois empire suddenly popping up because somehow by virtue of fairy tales and magic they could now feed armies with muskets and cannonballs and that exists and is called westernization you're imitating people with better tech than you.

If you are talking about the Americas you're sort of right but total Indian and African domination didn't happen until late 19th ventury

Do you have all the achievements?

Nope?
I thought so.

what do achievements have to do with anything? Are you saying you must get all achievements in Europe before you are "allowed" to play what you want? Do you even realize many players do NOT play ironman? Geez, the new patch brought some nice people back to these forums it seems...

im not mentioning westernisation in any of my points :| notice that? wow. NICE! nor did i say a thing about GUNS OR anything.

notice how i ALSO made it CLEAR that you get STOMPED EASY NO MATTER THE YEAR OR TECH SIMILARITY PRE AOW.

yet... the colonial same continent mechanic...is

RIDICULOUS.
no matter HOW you slice it... its a peach of rotten core!

benifits who? nobody.
it doesnt benefit anybody in NA.

Even USA. Why? because USA first four provinces will most likely be the most valuable the AI can find -_- and they will be forever in half, because they wasnt ac olonial nation when that got colonized!

-_- think about it!
