When I move to an empty province I want to colonize and there are natives there, they either will or won't attack my troops (just like EU3). When they do, I'll foight a stack that equals the amount of natives there are in the province but when I beat them, the number of the natives in the province does NOT go down.. Is that a bug?

I get it that we're supposed to lose some military power if we want to eradicate the natives (the way it works now when you attack manually) but why oh why do we also have to slaughter our soldiers for nothing for one battle?

Well I'm guessing the abstraction is that the adult males rise up first to try and defend their people (Fighting your troops), and then you use the 'exterminate natives' button to purge the rest of the women, children and elders making room for your settlers/colonists.

to be honest I find natives too easy to be dealt with as they are now, losing at least a bit of military power to get rid of those hostiles doesn't seem a great sacrifice.

Something along the old MM colonizing system would be great, I hope for mods/DLC.

I guess it is weird, now that you've mentioned it, but I don't see it as much of a problem. To be honest, the native stacks haven't posed much more than a nuisance for me on the occasions that they have risen up against my benevolent rulership. I think if the natives were to be completely eradicated after a single battle then colonization would become quite easy.

Natives increase base tax and manpower, but the difference is quite small.

You're not attacking them - They are attacking you. The stacks that pop up randomly is NOT their army. Think of them as spawning troops like rebels - to get completely rid of them you need to attack the province manually (costing you military power AND base tax in the long run)

Really though, you shouldn't exterminate the natives - they add base tax to your province if they are alive when it becomes a proper province.

Even if they have a really large aggressiveness?
if you're able to luckily integrate them, then it's worth the effort really, as it did historically.

Even if they have a really large aggressiveness?

Is a few thousand men worth a permanent increase in taxes? The answer should be yes - It means you'll need a standing army in every colony until they become provinces, but it is well worth the work imo.

if you're able to luckily integrate them, then it's worth the effort really, as it did historically.

No luck involved - Any surviving natives in a colony will be forced into your colony once it becomes a province, no matter how aggressive they are. There are events that help convert some of them early though.

I really hoped the attrition in America would be atrocious, but colonizing is just too damn peaceful and easy, and you always succeed in anything you do there.
