I think that you should get 25% extra for the product that you have monopolistic status in.
That way countries could "specialize" Helvetia producing iron, Sweden naval supplies, Denmark fish, Russia furs, et cetera.

But being the biggest producer isn't synonymous with a monopoly. Maybe if one power held fifty per cent of the production of a good there could be a bonus, but I don't think it's that important.

This remindes me, I saw that there is a possibility that someone could get a bonus (in terms of VP) for beeing nr. 1 producer of something, I have never seen that actually happening...

Is it due to the lack of perception or what?

No, it is just a planned feature that never made it into the game.

But what about this specializing thing? I think it would fun to see some wars break out because two countries want to be the biggest producer of something to get the bonus of 25%.(For example war between England and Denmark for fish markets.)

Or between France and Spain for wine.

You could just as well ask what is the point of having more provinces than anyone else, or more manufactories, or more troops.

It's simply a nice detail. :)
I tend to disagree. Take Rusia and fur. They had a monopoly, since the best fur came from Siberia, and while the fur wasn't so expensive in Rusia, their exports had a prohibitive price. And of course it was controled by state and sure as hell it was forbidden to export it without the proper chanels. This was true for a number of comodities all around the world, so perhaps some sort of economical bonus is in order, but it should be limited to luxury products and strategical one.

Just think of the following:

-bonus of 10 - 25 % for being the biggest producer.

Good sides:

-Economical wars. (competition for the title.)
-More goals in SP and MP. (to own the title.)
-Should be easy to include.
-Saved forum space:D

Bad sides:

-Can't think of any.

You would still recieve the VP but also the bonus to the trade.

How about one or two FREE embargoes to simulate the monopoly?
