What is the temperate icon supposed to represent?

I have figured out what the other icons represent, but I am wondering what the temperate icon is supposed to be. My best guess is that it is a bird pulling a rock, but I don't see how that is related to the virtue in question. Would anyone happen to know what this representation might be?

I see a man tied to a rock, so I think it refers to restraint, one of the alternate names of the virtue.

Would you believe it, I've also wondered about this before (along with some other icons). Back then, I came to the conclusion that someone is trying to drink a bottle of alcohol, but the bottle is burning in their hand. Quite silly, though, at least less sensible than the above.

It looks to me like the tip of a stick of dynamite on the left, with a long white fuse and a burning spark on the end of it. I think this is meant to symbolize having a "long fuse" as opposed to a "short fuse" that an angry or hot-tempered person has.

From my memory I think it's one piece of bread being broken in two, but I've never given it much thought in all honesty. I'll look at it for myself when I'm next playing a game.

Lol, I totally saw it as a green whip with some kind of ball at the tip, self-flagellation and all that I guess.

..but I think you are right. The only thing I would change in description would be a barrel of powder, instead of stick of dynamite

I thought that might be a possibility, but I'm not sure what that has to do about gluttony vs temperate (it would make more sense if it were for patience vs. wroth.)
