Just wondering how many of you who bought the game are experiencing this series for the first time? And how long does it take to get used to..?

Just to give you a frame of reference.. I'm a history major at university, so that end of the table is covered. I also play at the harder difficulties on the usual suspects of 2006 strategy gaming.. Civ IV, GalCiv2, and M2TW..

I'm in the whole laptop group of people so I can't try the demo out. I'm really interested in the game and debating whether or not to make an online purchase, somebody close the deal for me!

It is significantly more complex than any of the games you pointed out. It is also significantly more rewarding.

To have an idea what the general gameplay is about you can buy the original EU for 1€ at the site. Of course, you must understand that is a dated game with a far clunkier interface and certainly less options. But the core gameplay is the same. If you like it, you will certainly enjoy EU3. If you don't like it I would wait 'till I could test the demo.
