I love the HOI3:TFH, and wondering should I buy MotE. Money is not the only problem. Will it worth the time spent instead of just still keep focusing on HOI3:TFH is of my major concern. Now I`m looking forward to buy the game but still find no clue on how it is going to worth the money when I already got HOI3 series.

Correct me if I`m wrong:

So far, I found MotE is more like a casual grand strategy wargame, and HOI3 is some die-hard grand strategy wargame to me. Both are quite fascinating, and both require much effort to master. So if I buy the game, what kind of new things can I expect from MotE?

I see how different war equipment was in these two games, but is there anything in other aspect (for example, diplomacy:claim your core provinces, etc...) more exciting for MotE?

Can anyone tell me what is the biggest difference between those two, except the time frame, please?

Thanks if you can give any advice to help me make my final decision!

well, the fact of the different timeframe and the different development ethos means many game mechanics are very different.
  • Technology is very different as there's not a huge amount of cutting edge R&D going on in Napoleonic times. Instead, your technology is represented by Ideas, which can be bought with Idea points you earn from fighting battles.
  • Industrial goods are less important, I believe money and manpower are the only limited resources you're dealing with. Generally your economic management will be significantly less important as you won't collapse from running out of resources. (you still don't want to go bankrupt, though)
  • The warfare is significantly less static and frontline orientated than HOI. I believe it's more balanced to have concentrated armies fighting decisive battles rather than spreading your strength across the whole continent.
  • The diplomacy is very different because it's more flexible; who joins which coalition is less predetermined and difficult to influence than in HOI, and the coalitions will be changed to target the dominant land and dominant sea powers.

That`s more than what I expected! Buy it right now I will! Thanks for your advice!

more than happy to help. =)
Now I just need to decide whether I should buy Their Finest Hour. ^^

If I have three brains, one for work, one for TFH, and the last for all the other wargames, I would definitely recommend it to everybody I know. -- The game is amazing, pity our creator didn`t make us amazing enough @ @

What would happen, if an army of 55K just stormed to Berlin, in WW2? Due to lots of little armies, they would just march straight through the front, capture Frankfurt, and other key cities along the way.

@OP

No difference I can see from screenshots. Both games seem to be won or lost depending on who has the most tanks and subs.

TBC, though.

The real question is: what is the difference between MOTE and a feature-ridden EU3?

One has better a better attrition system, forts, more realistic historical accuracy.
