Playing as the Byzantine empire, I have managed to get a demesne size of 14 (14 counties along with the appropriate counties

Right now I am at about 10.

I'm curious to know what other players have managed

how did you manage 70? were you using gavelkind succession? I play with primongeniture so maybe that's why my demesne limit is low

15/15 as Emperor as scandinavia. Did not get Legalism 5/5 in time and "only" got to 40 Stewardship including all bonuses. The last two castles were not even fully upgraden until the very end ;).

You can get infinite stewardship by the way, by fulfilling the become steward ambition infinite number of times. Bug has been there since 1.07 if I recall correctly.
the opposite
bug has been REMOVED since 1.07 (or even earlier IIRC)
and more importantly
the stat has a cap, after which it rolls back to zero

Can somebody explain how it is possible to do anything an infinite number of times? How do you decide when you've finished?

Reminds me of an occasional conversion with the kids (3 under 10s), where they ask what the biggest number is and one of them chirps up that infinity is. I try to explain that infinity isn't actually a number, it's a concept. If it was a number then you could do maths with it. They seem dissatisfied with the answer that there is no biggest number.

I don't understand the point of gaming CK2, it's easy enough as it is.

riknap: it has been removed way earlier and then reintroduced in 1.07. It happened when they split plots and ambitions into two different concepts, I guess.

nyah: Infinity is a proper member of *R, which is a real closed field, which means you can indeed do mathematical operations with it. It also is the biggest number there.

Can somebody explain how it is possible to do anything an infinite number of times?
Infinity is the upper limit of number of times you can do it, which means it is not limited. What a silly question.

Still, using the bug is kind of pointless; you can simply cheat and give you whatever you want. I'm pretty sure the OP was talking about legitimate empires/demneses ;).

Also, the bug is not something you "use" 20 times by accident, hence you do not have unlimited stewardship.

FabiusBile: not true. The bug works in multiplayer while cheats do not. You can easily get +1 stewardship every two weeks or so.

Which is called exploiting by every sensible person. Just because something is possible doesn't mean that you have to use it. It is obviously a bug. It is the same as paradropping in HoI3 and abusing many other broken things present in Paradox Games.

FabiusBile: I have no idea what you're trying to say. We are not discussing the morality of it. I'm just saying that using the bug is not the same thing as singleplayer cheats.

The thread is about how big your demense is usually in the late game. It is not about that you can use a bug in Multiplayer that gives you stewardship for free. That the bug is present is irrelevant for singleplayer since you can also delete and modify your demnese limit in single player via mods and/or save game editing, hence my comment. I was only pointing out the obvious : it is not relevant to the thread, since we're not talking about cheating. The equivalent of using the stewardship bug is the same as setting stewardship to max for every rulesr your have, in which case all our demnese sizes are the same, since we have maximal Stewardship and Legalism 5/5, an empire title and Gavelkind.
