What is it about?

Hey, it's my first time on the Victoria Forums.
I played EU3, and currently play HoI2.
HoI2 is really a lot about warfare, but sometimes I just want to play a more peaceful game, with lots of economy. First I played Sim City, but that was only city - wide and not country wide. Now from what I heard, Victoria is really a country wide big economy simulation. Am I right, or is there still a lot of warfare?
Can anyone tell me what this game is actually about?
And please no bias just because I am playing those other games.

Short answer (I'll leave the over-explainations to others):

There's war in Victoria, but not much, vicky is focused on 1.Economy 2.Politics

To grow powerful, vicky you need to build the economy and satisfy you population.
Of course, sometimes war will help you do that...

Well i just started so no Bias shall be given.

Short Answer :Victoria is one of the most complex games i have ever played. It makes EU3 and HOI2 look like monopoly when it comes to economics. Supplies don't magicaly appear, manpower isn't imply a number up on the screen.When I frist started I played 13 games as brazil (which is what is recomended for starteres) before I was able to win. And by winning I mean ending the game with more territory than when i started.

Ok that aside; You have Hoi2's basics in there, along with EU3's combat style. what they have added is a world economy with the ability to regulate your economy with more than just simply bumping a slider , change your government with actual policy.

Diplomacy is more similar to EU than HOI. Tech tree is a mix of both.

However Winning in this game is sooo much more satisfying than any other game out there.

This is a great game once you have run through HOI2 and EU as much as I have.

I have owned it about a year and I struggle with it constantly. It is a really, really difficult and challenging game, but it is also the most complex and rewarding game I have ever played. Do yourself a favor though and go ahead and buy Revolutions at the same time. Otherwise you might fall off that steep learning cliff and get hurt.

vicky is mostly focused on running your economy and politics. however, there's just enough warfare to spice it up also. i like a good war every once in a while. the POP system is fun to tinker with and adds so much to the game, which is a big addition you do not see in other p-dox games. it's very deep, and has large learning curve, but is really a fun game. check out the vikiwiki to get lots of good info. and i would definitely get revolutions w/ it.
