So, after starting my Nationalist China game again after Japan decided on a VERY ahistorical DOW on me, i've been battling with the Communists and i'm trying to attack their capital as Mao has only 2 divisions there.

I'm attacking from a Shanxi province and the two are right next to eachother, although there is a river. However, instead of going directly into the province like I want, the army is going on a massive 3 month treck right around to the other side to attack...even though the province is right next to them and they can just fight across the effing river.

WHY?? :( lol.

Cheers for any input guys.

EDIT: Hang on, I think i've figured it out. Shanxi is not at war with Communist China, thus, attacks cannot be made from their territory into Commie territory, I believe I'm right in this assessment yeah?

Correct. You have military access through Shanxi, so you can move your units through Shanxi territory, but not launch attacks from Shanxi territory.

grrrr, i'm not having the same success as I had before against the communists. And now i'm at the point where i'm thinking, why bother? I'm sorely temopted to load as the communists, disband all their armies, reload and then just walk straight in. I just can't be sodded fighting Mao anymore. lol

Weather I actually do that is another matter. As some people have suggested of "bommbing his IC province down to zero" well......that just DOES NOT work when you only have one crappy tac bomber. It doesn't. I've been bombing the sod for months and not even scratching the paint on his factories. lol :(

Are you bombing the infrastructre first? IIRC all of ComChi's provinces have 40% infrastructure, but apparently they can repair the IC faster than you can bomb it. So bomb the infrastructure down first, that will slow the rate of all repairs. If you can get their infra down to <10%, you should be able to take out their IC. Just switch between logistical and strategic bombing as their infra begins to repair.

I'll try and give that a go. Bombing his infastructure and see if it can help. I couldn't go through with disbanding his armies, cause even then if i did win...it wouldn't feel right as there was no challenge and I couldn't really claim a victory. :)

But, I have thought up a new attack strategy which is certain (i hope anyway) to work against that jumped up little commie ;)

If you choose to go that route then you can simply use accept all to demand their territory since you have cores on all their provinces which would annex it.
