We have many expansions in EU4 (I bought them all) and it would be a nice surprise if this one would be free

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
PDS is not such a wealthy company to afford things like these, not to mention that they already give enough of the expansion content for free.

More then fair conclusion, actually I have a hard time complaining about the cost of this game compared to how many hours I get out of it.
Besides, any contribution to the Swedish GNP is more then welcome.

It probably will be, and it will be called "Patch 1.14", following it will be a paid expansion with another name, following that will probably be another free expansion, that one called "Patch 1.15".

By the way Wiz, France shouldn't have "Bourgeoisie" as a third Estate. It should be called "Tiers-État" (Third Estate), as the estate comprised both Burghers ("Bourgeoisie") and Peasants.
True, during the Revolution most representatives of the Third Estate were Burghers, but it was mainly because peasants elected those représentants that could read and write, usually the local burgher or artisan. But they were supposed to protect the interests of the peasants, not their own.

They are already giving out free features with each expansion relase. As much as I didn't like the way some things were handled in Common Sense, don't be too greedy...

Or add a fourth estate for peasants (certain countries make the distinction between burghers and peasants and they do have different interests). They were extremely important and influential (in a "riotous" sort of way but still).

It should be noted that while "peasants" is the common translation for the estate that had some political power in Sweden (and Finnish lands under their control), the concept was a bit different from usual peasants. Only farmers who owned their own farmland were represented by the estate, while rent farmers and other lesser peasants weren't.

I can see doing it like a marketing thing.
E.g. uniting free features from the next expansion into a thematically unified bunch and calling it an expansion registering in Steam as DLC and all of that. Paradox have actually done this with couple of cosmetic DLC - Christmas songs and women were added as DLCs, not a patch.
For devs it'd be not much work but it could work for journalists. Honestly, if you look at difference between EU4 1.13 without any DLC and EU4 1.0 you already got yourself several free expansions (just compare map of Africa and Asia) but for someone who doesn't know much about EU4 it may look like a greedy DLC fest (which can be fixed by some managing of DLCs and packs but let's not go there).
TLDR: they just should call next free patch an expansion for people to hear about how much support they get with EU4.
