What if Stellaris flops?

Any game always has a chance of being a flop, however this game looks quite promising so far.
The only thing that would seriously make people demand refunds, would be from unreasonable expectations.
And game-breaking bugs, but only if the devs would refuse to patch them. This is however an unlikely scenario.

If it flops, we'll end up with probably a game that is decently fun for a while. Like Civ: Beyond Earth. It's not a terrible game, and picking it up on a sale was worth it. It's nothing something I'll play all that often, but worth it to have.

I don't suspect Stellaris to flop though. It may not be the rousing success either, but I suspect we'll get some dlc out of the mix.

What if scenario. If Stellaris turns out to be awful how will you go on with your life? What's the next thing you'll look forward to? Is your life basically ruined if Stellaris is sucky?

i would vote to give you the game two weeks earlier for testing, to ensure it wont flop but sincerely, the streams proved it is a typical paradox game from a eu4 or vic2 perspective, i did not see core features missing, so no problems a dlc or mod could not fix

if you call something "flop" just remind "x rebirth" - no previews, streams, ... until release, and then it was nothing like the games before, that was a flop for everyone who loving the "old" games, dont expect that with stellaris

This reminds me of a huge textwall posted on the official Rome 2 forums after launch basically saying the same thing and how he had no reason to live anymore. Not sure if troll or serious tbh.

at release it was really not a better version of HoI2, a lot of CTDs, less history, more sandbox etc. the dlcs fixed it somehow

I am very serious. I have AIDS-Cancer. Everyday I inject myself with pure Stellaris hype, and that's what keeps me alive according to my doctor. If Stellaris was to be disappointing, I would totally die of anal dilatation.
