I don't know if there's another thread discussing this already, but I am just curious of what hybrid cultures have you guys made, and what are some plausible historical options/suggestions for a play through.

So far I've only thought of the Gallowglass, which is a hybrid between the Scottish Gaelic and the Norse cultures. What's more out there?

I started as Socotra, replaying one of my favourite games from CK2, which is Yemeni so once I expanded into the African mainland I merged the Yemeni and Somali cultures into Socotran.

Centuries later, after the conquest of Egypt, I merged again to make Socryptian the dominant culture of east Africa.

Good times, good times.

I started as custom Lord in the far north as Sami.
Merges Sami and Norse into Norse-Sami. Then we packed up our stuff and went to Yorubaland.
There we formed the Frumskógurlander (with Yoruba) und the Frumskógurland (Jungleland) Kingdom.

Currently doing a Wales run and im planning on hybridizing with the Anglo-Saxons.
My only problem is that I havent been able to come up with a name yet, tempted to go with "Lloegyrian", after the region of Britain that would be ceded to the English.

So, the new version of Norman culture is just a divergent French culture that isn't very good, so I loaded the autosave and started somewhat lengthier process of hybridizing Norse with French and ended up with this Knight-focused culture instead (Expert Artisans was the first new tradition French adopted right after hybridizing and it's pretty neat so I kept it).

Since then, I've added Warrior Priests and an offshoot Christian faith, Valkyrism, dedicated to pushing prowess to ridiculous heights.

High saxons ; mixt of saxons and polabes (slavs of the Elbe). Lot of western slavs culture elements but of germanic saxon language.
Pushing on the east a second hybridation should occurs with pomeranians.

A word of caution merging replaces a decent chunk of both cultures in your realm. If you want to keep Welsh intact just split the kingdoms by partition and have the English part merge. As for names as for names you could go for "Anglau" welsh for Angles, and Anglauoedd for a literal translation of "angle land".

Can I also suggest merging with Cornish, as they have a nice little perk allowing them to build quarries in hills. I merged Ethiopian with a culture in Africa that has the same perk and my income went though the roof as hills suddenly became very productive economic centres. Something missing in Wales and Scotland.

Yeah I do intend on splitting the country into 4 beforehand: Wales on the one hand and Cornwall, Northumbria/Lancaster (mostly Cumbrian) and the remainder of England on the other :)

The only 'isnt very good' is them removing arched saddles in 1066. It made no sense for normans in 1066 to have vigmen, varang vets, huscarls, and bondi

Doing a conqueror game atm, going to form English with next ruler as he's been raised in an anglo saxon court.
Then form anglo norman with his heir
Whenever i get aquitaine, im going to diverge from french and form angevin with that ruler
With his heir convert to occitan, form gascon in Aquitaine, and rename duchy of Aquitaine gascon, but then convert to local culture to get back to anglo-norman
If i exile myself to Ireland, form Old Anglo-Irish from Anglo-Norman, then return to crown of england via a faction hopefully
Educate my heir to be anglo-norman, then with him, diverge or hybridise to form middle English
And with his heir, finally form anglo-french from middle English
