Just had the event fire again as Germany and it brought me to wonder exactly what happens to Stalin. I noticed Beria replaces him and thought this might lead to the conclusion that Beria and the NKVD arranged for Stalin to suffer a "mishap" while transferring to the interior. I also thought about Hitler and what he would do. I kinda think he would want to parade Stalin through the streets of Berlin and put him in a cage in the basement of the Chancellery or something. Of course I'm not sure the Russians would willingly hand Stalin over to the Germans, even under the duress of continued war. Also, there is the possibility that Stalin actually takes the "honorable" way out and casually eats a bullet on his way to Siberia. Just makes me wonder. I doubt he would survive an unfavorable peace with the Germans, but who knows.

Anybody have any thoughts on it? Or maybe a good role-play explanation?

I sometimes envision Otto Skorzeny, deep behind Soviet-lines, hunting down the Premier and "diplomatic-bagging" him to the Berchtesgaden.

If Stalin stayed at peace with the allies he would move to Britain.There he will receive benefits and free housing like any other criminal who comes here.Then he would fight a deportation case to the USA were he is wanted for war crimes.

Well, that's certainly happened, but I think we'd have made an exception for Stalin and given him the boot. I don't think Churchill was too keen on him for a start. It would be interesting if AoD modelled the actual location of your ministers though, as well as your generals and other leaders...

I don't think Churchill would harbour Stalin given his personal ideas about the USSR. Plus if the Soviet Union had surrendered I highly doubt Churchill would've had anymore toleration for Stalin.

Depends if Stalin was behind the surrender. Hypothetically if there was a coup and the plotters signed the bitter peace, then Stalin might be useful as the leader of a Soviet Government in Exile that advocated continuing the fight. But realistically he wouldn't survive such a scenario.

Can't see Churchill harbouring a fleeing Stalin for any reason. He might enlargen the British Communist Party!

Thinking on the issue some more has brought me to conclude that Britain would not directly accept Stalin, but, should he escape German and Soviet retribution, he would be quietly snuck-out the back via (a then unoccupied) British-India and sent to China through Hong Kong.

More reason as to China for my choice. Japan totally failed in it's war against Nat. China, stalemate just south of Beping since '37. Japan (not part of the Axis yet) declared war via "Day of Infamy" on January 3, 1942. Promptly begin to lose all their Pacific bases and launch NO attacks against AI in SEA! Hitler, stalled just outside Leni, Stali and Mosci, calls up Tojo and says;
"Sign a treaty ending your war against the Chinese and we'll give you huge tracts of Russian land!"
Togo grumbles and Hitler quickly follows with;
"Oh. China will be yours again after we defeat the British."
So the Japanese begrudgingly accept the German co-sponsored treaty which gives them a small bit of territory in the north. But most importantly, it ends the second Chinese-Japanese War! And all this time, Stalin had been supporting the Chinese with supplies and material.

So, when looking for a place Stalin could hide (in my world) it's either China (to support the continuation war) or to South America (a Left-wing state might secretly allow him "unknowingly" in as a refugee). But either state would have to be prepared for the full wrath of Axis reprisals (which we all know are not good!)

Seems not plausible to me. The way Stalin and Hitler employed politics is "all or nothing", there is no compromise and no in between. If Germany had won against USSR like the Bitter Peace event suggests, Stalin would have been executed or assasinated by those who followed him. Otherwise he'd ended himself just like Hitler did in 45. What would any country gain from harboring a paranoid ex-Dictator? Just trouble, he has no power, ergo there is no use for him.
