What happens to colony when I annex her overlord?

Hello, I have Portugal as my vassal. I let Portugal colonise and thought it would be a good idea but when I vassalized Castile I saw Castile's colony " Castilian Brazil " became an independent state, so I am not sure now. Portugal has Portoguese Brazil and Caraibas colonial states, what happens to those colonies if I diplo-annex Portugal?

According to the patch 1.5 notes you should inherit all of portugal's dependencies when you inherit them.

In 1.4 the colony would become independent. I don't know about 1.5

Haven't done it myself, but in my 1.5 game Russia annexed Great Britain as a result of a PU and got all Britain's Colonies, so I think you get them all.

You need to annex (diplo or force), vassalizing frees colonial nations. You should get Portugal's colonials if you diplo-annex.

Question. Do we get to rename the colonies? And do they combine? So if I were England/UK and owned parts of America, and were to annex France, would French Thirteen colonies be integrated into English Thirteen Colonies?
