Following a successful invasion of Wessex, sanctioned by the pope, many of my anglo saxon provinces have already started to flip over to Norman. Will the melting pot event still happen? It's only 902 right now.
A Norman king would get the melting pot event to fire on Saxon provinces but not on Norman ones. Which is why Normandy provinces remain Norman while the event fires for the rest of England.
Mod or console is the only solution, other than waiting around for 2 - 4 centuries, praying that some provinces are still Saxon, and not holding a title higher than k_england.
Could always become Anglo-Saxon yourself for a generation via education or use the convert to local culture decision, then convert back closer 1100 when the melting pot event can fire. You could also avoid giving land out to Normans with high stewardship, since high stewardship will of course lead to culture conversion.
It seems to me like the English event should fire if the province culture is in the West Germanic (which includes Saxon) group or the French group. Region locked to England of course.
