Well, thanks to the new update, my Ming game is dead (Although I accomplished most of my goals already, but I wanted to finish the game). I wanted to redo my Asian empire, but good god, what happened to Ming's tax? It used to be around 25 at the start, but now it's 11.25? My poor Ming, it used to be rich.

Problem is, Ming got stuck with a minimum autonomy cap of 50%... and at the same time Internal Perfection is still wrecking havoc. Basically, Ming is now a bigger, juicier, weaker pinata.

Ming will never be fixed will it? Considering all the new provinces, how much longer and harder will it be for me to take over and rule Asia as say, Japan? I've done a Japan game before, but never finished conquering all of Asia.

In my current Oman game Ming is permanently occupied and abused by enemies. A sort of giant Khornate-battlefield for warmongers.

Well, I just read on the wiki...

"The 50% minimum autonomy limits Ming to only receiving half of the tax and manpower its provinces can provide, as the modifiers are additive, combined with the 15% penalty for different culture (but same group) and the 25% penalty from Chinese bureaucracy, Ming would often only receive 10% of the taxes and manpower from its most valuable provinces, like the Yangtze delta region."

Ming was very much playable, overpowered even back in 1.7. I could easily take on Russia or a Western power without Westernizing, and the faction system was actually useful. Now, Ming is nerfed to the ground and I have to rush to Westerners to save myself, killing the objective of uniting Asia. 10% tx and manpower from almost all my provinces? What a joke.

I also believe that they removed the tech penalty from inward perfection, but also removed the bonus from the Eunuchs. So you are now stuck at 160%? Before you could get it to 135% I think...

the local autonomy nerf hit ming hard... and inward perfection, while weaker, still exists so ming is essentially weaker and less rich than before, although westernized ming is stronger than before due to the greater number of provinces ming has now in art of war.

Well, to be honest I've heard plenty of horror stories about Ming reaching the Black Sea in 1500.
And knowing the game mechanics a bit, I tend to agree. An AI Ming without any kind of restrictions (Celestial Empire, Inward Perfection, Mandate of Heaven, factions) would crush anyone from day 1.
Ming is after all sitting on some of the richest provinces in the world and it has 3x more than the closest contender.

It would be epic, though, to see a Westernized Ming fighting an united HRE or a huge France
