Ricky is FAR from unplayable and is currently the best PI game there is.
Yeah, currently is the keyword here. After a plethora of patches the game is quite nice.
However, do you remember the game as it was released? Crashes, completely ahistorical POPs, CTDs every few days, population growth reaching unbelievable levels, units revolting while boarded on a ship, wars being merged by new alliances (uber-WWII every other year), just to name some more persistent problems right from the top of my head (not to mention the ridiculous Spiff and Kapsukas provinces, to name a few). This is the game I bought.
I'm more or less happy with Vicky now. But ask yourself what would you think if you bought, say, a first person shooter and then realised it's crashing every half an hour, with vanilla (unmodded) version deprived of, say, any working firearm. Sure, somebody would release a mod that would add the firearms back and perhaps even the developer would include include that in one of the patches. Then in a payable expansion they would even add the ability to reload your gun. But that's not the game you buy. You buy vanilla version 1.0 and... well... expect it to work.
Just to be sure, I love the idea of Paradox games and in the end thanks to modders most of them become what they should have been from the start. But there is something fishy here.
Cheers
