The AI does often commit commanders by skill level and not feats, so many other german panzer leaders, so Rommel, Manstein, Hauser & friends often end up as INF-division commanders.

IIRC poor Manstein actually was in command of an infantry corps for the invasion of France. I know that's not really relevent, but it is kind of amusing to know the OKW was almost as bad at assigning leaders as the AI is :)

LOL ! But to be honest, the OKW didn't have the "traits" (feats ?) written plainly in the general's file.

Well except perhaps for Guderian.

I'm just wondering, has anyone noticed if we get an "Adolf Hitler" General in 1942 that eventually gets assigned to all our units Army HQ and above? You know, the one with -2 skill, -20% morale "bonus" and the "victory or death" trait? That would be fully realistic

Haha !

Actually, it could be an extension of the traits actually present in the Politics screen. It would be interesting to see the personality of some of the rulers play a role. Hitler, of course, and Stalin but there might also be other leaders ?

For Stalin, a division that retreats from a fight could lose 50% strength (due to the commissars shooting the "traitors").

Some generals could also give a morale boost to their troops. And I dearly miss the traits that could be gained by generals in HOI2 (like "desert rat", etc). This HOI3 is getting a bit "bland" to my taste. :)

Having read all your posts, I am left scratching my head. In my game it's March 1941. I looked at my statistics tab and nope, Rommel, Paulus, Model (many others) show as inactive. How do I turn them active? They don't show up in my list of assignable gernerals at all.
