This is just a topic to speculate wildly on what the next Paradox Interactive game will be.
With their two most lucrative properties, Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis, recently released, they will likely be flush with cash to fund a new project (maybe they'll even be able to afford a forum search tool!). Unfortunately, it can't be one based on either of their two hottest series.
Of course, an HOI3 expansion or two is to be expected, but this can hardly keep Paradox busy for too long. Victoria 2 or CK 2 seems a little unlikely, especially the former, given its tepid reception. Of course, both are possible. Rome 2 is equally improbable, given that Rome was just a minor spin-off of EU3 basically.
What seems most likely to me would be an entirely new game. Yes, sounds strange perhaps, but that's what I think! Now, that's not to say a new era necessarily - Pre-Roman times and the Dark ages, the only eras left unexplored by paradox, are both relatively unalluring. A modern day game is possible, but has a variety of competition with significant overlap (including Geopolitical Simulator and Supreme Ruler).
I think that Paradox might go for something of a different scope - say a war game that focuses on just one theatre, or even some sort of tycoon simulator (albiet on a scale that puts others to shame).
Of course, I could be completely wrong, and in a few months they'll be announching Victoria 2.
