I would like only accepted cultures to be monarchs as that in 1000+ years only Greeks and Armenians were emperors.
What features would you like to see in a unique Byzantine government.

The real question is why you would want an unique Byzantine government as this is literally a dead nation on day 1. And your suggestion seems a bit off, as monarchs always are of the right culture in EU4, it's not CK2.
But to answer, I'd say something about the walls of Constantinople and the Varangian Guard could be added. You could also add a special state system where there is a rebellion every other day to dethrone you, that would also be accurate.

This will no longer be the case as of Cradle of Civilization and the Persia patch.
But that said, I can't think of any reason why Byzantium should have a unique government type.
sometimes my monarchs die with out a hair and i get a foreign dynasty witch to my knowledge never happend.
It's not that far-fetched because other historically-doomed nations like the Mamluks or Timurids also got their unique government types
Prestige bonus. Religious unity modifier. Maybe more.

Something that represents court intrigue without oversimplifying it to monarch points additions/deductions would be nice.
They should get Varangian guards as a unique unit i feel.

Time would be spent better elsewhere. Byzantium already has a dlc with events which is far more then most other tiny nations.
beat me to it. The sad part is you pretty much have to game the $#&@ out of the mechanics to play it.
You joke and all but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Byzantium's demise now becomes even more railroaded.

To be fair, Byzantium fell to a combination of factors that might've just as easily be avoided. To be also fair, the Ottomans were in luck that nations bordering them had weak/non-functioning/dying governments. Whenever they hit anything resembling a serious country - they were stopped real hard. People, including DDRJake, are quick to bash Byantium just because it apparently is cool to do so. I, personally, don't find it that amusing. It was, after all, a country that thrived and survived for almost 2000 years.
To answer the original question, Byzantium has enough intereting mechanics as is, especially now that it got the new Orthodox features as well. I think a special government feature would be over the top, especially compared to important nations like France or Spain that have jack tbh.

well from what i saw on the game developer multiplayer stream it looks like ottomans lost their cores on other nations and have a claim on Byzantium so safe to say they're doomed at game start now lol
