The devs talk a lot on stream about how they don't like the Soviet tree (though are quick to stress it's just their personal, not company opinion) so I wouldn't be surprised if the Soviet Union is the next to be reworked

Were I at Paradox, I would focus the next DLC almost entirely on the USSR and its neighbors: USSR, Finland, Baltic States, Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece. This has several advantages:

* One one major power refocus, but you can devote the resources to do it right.
* Instead of revising a second (and dubiously related) major power, focus on hugely important minors. Even though Turkey didn't join the war until 1945, they had outsized influence on all three historic factions' diplomacy.
* A USSR update is the logical place to make a focus tree for Finland, and Turkey of necessity drags in Bulgaria and Greece.
* Poland and the Baltics round out the USSR's European neighbors -- Baltics very optional, but they really should get off of the overpowered generic focus tree. I would be okay with dropping this bullet point in favor of a...

Massive rework of the resistance mechanics! This was a huge part of Soviet strategy and military effort during the war, and amounts to not very much in the current game. One idea: make a system like lend-lease where you can funnel infantry weapons to resistance forces. The USSR spent a fair amount of resources funneling guns to partisans, as did the UK and USA to lesser extents. This, to me, is even more important than an espionage system, though that too is lacking in the current game. Perhaps defer an espionage/destabilization system to a future DLC focused on the Spanish Civil War + France + Italy.

Bulgaria will most likely come with rework of Turkey and Greece

I've heard the devs mention that also, but I think it's more likely they decide it's not 'interesting' enough and replace with Albania instead.

If they do include it though, I would prefer it to be with a suitable major - Italy or the USSR. If you have Bulgaria + Greece + Turkey + Italy rework, that would work great. One problem I have with the USSR rework + Finland + Scandinavia DLC is that where does the Polish rework fit in? And we've seen previously that the reworks happen by 2: Germany + Japan / USA + UK. Save to assume that another rework can happen so... USSR + Poland + Finland + Sweden + Norway?

I don´t know. Personaly I think they will improve the Airforce and Army again after the big job-site of the Navy, esp. in Upgrading like the Navy.

Maybe they will get improve more neutral / democratic small states (like Skandinavia etc.) or the Communist-Part (Russia etc.)

I'd like to see MONEY in some form, and manpower/population put to better use. Hear me out.
With money things like taxes, budgets, financing, and a more robust experience for economy become available. It could be tied into political power closely as well.
Financing for military equipment would be crucial, paying your soldiers necessary so that they can provide for there families while in war. Centralizing the basic national utilities companies, collecting money from your citizens off utilities and taxes while making sure they don't become over taxed and risk coup's or degrading military support.
Imagine wanting to research those Tiger tanks faster/earlier, but you need your best scientists/industrialists to collaborate earlier and harder. They may be pulled off researching a more efficient power grid to work on this project. And once they complete it you have to find a way to employ your population to construct fresh assembly lines for your new war machine, and once complete with that employ your population to actually construct the equipment.

I see a vast ocean in which money and population can be expanded to make your economic decisions more exciting and the experience much more realistic.
Just my opinion=)

I love HoI4 to death (and dishonour) with 1700+ hours on my Steam record, but I seriously hope that MtG will be the last DLC/expansion.

HoI4 does have some severe limitations when it comes to engine and the clumsy UI.
Those can't be fixed entirely with patches and expansions and I feel like it's time to bury that one and focus on HoI5.
Let's face it: Stellaris (which I own and don't love) is lightyears ahead of HoI4 when it comes down to game design.

The same Stellaris that is currently totally broken and hated by half of the community?

The same Stellaris that is currently totally broken and hated by half of the community?

Not to mention the poor decision to replace the Project Lead immediately after release.

Different vision for game direction.

Different priorities in design.

Lack of interest to expand on truly original concepts for the genre, and simplify them to make it "easier" and unoriginal for the genre its in....

Now I wait for the droves of White Knights that I've never seen post here before swarm into this forum.....

dislike many with repectly disagree i will give a answer to this. This will not the last dlc, no.

game have severe limitation, well in performance yes, also in database command and how handle events (with actual mod flow).

But im sure they will make work ai in a aceptable until get hoi v, then if they can port to a new version of engine, probably yes.

I fell and acept hoi iv as a step into ai system for an actual province map density. i like too much, but i hope we will have a HOI IV in some years with a decent ai and frontline system ported to some engine that can handle the things game need smoothly

I'm waiting for Scandinavia, of course. The question is whether Finland will be part of the Scandi DLC or a DLC centered around Russia. Or it could get a focus tree with the Scandi DLC, and then possibly have that tree reworked a little once the USSR update rolls out.

I know a lot of people are really eager for a Spain tech tree, though, so maybe a standalone Spain DLC, or maybe Spain and Portugal?

Lack of interest to expand on truly original concepts for the genre, and simplify them to make it "easier" and unoriginal for the genre its in....
Really? The dislike I've seen so far have seemed to be about how it's too hard and complex now? Just my impression, of course.

If this will be the Soviet DLC, then Mongolia will probably get a focus tree. PDX wants to combine focus trees and Mongolia together with SU is the only logical option, since it wasn't included in WtT.

They must include Finland with SU as well.

And the last nation to receive a focus tree will probably be a rework. I guess either Poland or France.

Post war demobilization and related events for cold war mods. But before that a proper reserve/mobilization system in the lead up to war.
i want those things but i think its still to early to have those features.

I guess the next one is going to be, Soviet, Italian and Spanish Focus trees. And probably something related to ground combat. Four focus trees is all I would bet on, they are getting bigger and bigger. If they opt for a "combined" Spanish tree, they might add Turkey or Finland.

Id say Finland is more likely to get it's focus tree at the same time as the rest of the Nordic countries, instead of together with Turkey, Greece or Bulgaria etc.

Much closer geographically and politically to each others, plus also fits in better thematically to have Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland all in one single country pack.

Lot's of people are mentioning USSR, which yes, it's a likely candidate among the high-impact countries, but I think we might see Turkey which was once mentioned as one of those countries without focus trees that are fairly popular.
