Okay, but let's say that I don't want cosmetics that much. Is it cheaper to buy the FM edition to get the Pass or to wait for DLCs and buy it separate?(and now to get just the Basic edition) Because if the upcoming 2 dlcs are each +-25 euros, I won't save anything if I buy it now, right. (I will pay the same amount anyway, right?)

The math is sound, and with sales - you'll probably be able to get it cheaper overall after the fact. That being said, I definitely bought FM Edition because I just want to throw money at their faces since I think P'dox is awesome. #fanboi #longhairdontcare

I'm personally not convinced that there's really any reason economically to consider FM, but they may just be advertising it incorrectly.

same lol. Paradox take my Monie.

And guess it would be my first purchase from Paradox store so that Gabe doesn't get a fat cut (pun intended) from the money. Anyone knows how Paradox distributes keys through their own store since I want to play on Day 1 and heard that Green Man Gaming got some really slow distribution on Stellaris launch day. Hope paradox will just give a key to me so that I can activate HOI4 beforehand or right at the hour of launch (yes i wanna get the planning bonus going)

You are effectively pre-ordering the expansions which will allow them to put more money into it and show that there is a want for it. They are willing to give it to you at the same price or possible a bit less then what they think it will cost. All for showing them via the FM edition you are interested in the long term expansions of the game.

I can't speak for other currencies, but in pounds it is a saving of £4, not a lot, BUT you also get three contents packs for free, so worth it in my mind (one from the FM edition and two dlc content packs)

I honestly don't know why everybody is just assuming the expansions are $15-20. Paradox are clearly experimenting with their business model for HOI IV so there's a chance their standard CK2/EU4 dlc price will change with HOI IV. In the event that I'm right and the expansions alone go to, let's say $25, then you would be saving money with this limited expansion pass as it also includes the cosmetics.
Again though, that's only if Paradox are changing their current expansios policies & pricing

Well yea that is why I am asking.
Anyway, I think we will just have to wait what we will get with our Pass that day. I hope we will be rewarded a little for this early support! :)

Can somebody explain to me what exactly do you get cheaper with SP if you buy it/pre-order?
Let me do the simple math here: Basic edition: 40 euros; Field Marshal edition: 90 euros
Field Marshal edition has theExpansion Pass which includes the first 2 expansion and it’s related content, to an estimated value of $49.99.

Let's say that average price of DLC (based on my knowledge of EU IV) is 20euro and cosmetic for 5euro.
It means that these 2 DLCs are both for 40 euros and the cosmetcis for like 10. = 50.

Basic edition (40) + DLCs (50) = 90 euros.

So it seems to me that the only thing that Field Marchal edition gives you are some cosmetics and forum icons, but you pay the same amount for the DLCs NOW as you would pay for them if you bought them later on.
On the stream though Dan has told that SP makes you to pay less than if you buy DLCs in the future.
However, based on my math there and by the Statement on Steam HOI IV page (estimated value of 2 DLCs = $49.99), it does not seem that anything is cheaper, therefore there would be no reason to pre-order the edition, only if you wanted the extra forum icons..
Can somebody make this clear for me? What is on this edition CHEAPER? How does this SP make you pay less?

(btw I am not writing this because I don't agree with these editions and such. Actually I like the idea of SP in HOI IV but I am very confused about its advantage)

Thanks in advance

Don't you think it will be fair to compare it with Colonel Edition?
Because you have a lot of items inside Colonel Edition also included into Field Marshal, but price difference is not $50.

Yea, that is what I've realized after few guys pointed this out.
But anyway, I've thought that you will get the future DLCs for a bit cheaper price than if you were to buy it in the future separately, you know.

So this is true. If you compare Colonel Edition to FME, you'll get $20 difference. Do you think that two expansions and some cosmetic DLCs will be cheaper? I don't think so...

Ummm, it was easy for me, just to jump into the Field Marshall edition, I would be embarrassed to count up how many hours I have spent playing Hoi 2 then Hoi 3.
I'm in for the long haul and no-one else makes WW2 strategy games of this quality.

Actually, prices are different across the world. It is hard to compare.

For example, we usually have a $10 price for the PDX game here, along with $6 for expansion.
Now it is $23 for Field Marshal Edition.

Expansion Pass #1:
Includes the first 2 expansion and it’s related content, to an estimated value of $49.99

I think there'll be more contents besides the two expansion packs. By that I mean the way the EUIV DLC's had the expansion plus content i.e. Mare Nostrum and Mare Nostrum Contents pack. The expansion was 19.99 and the contents 7.99 equaling almost 28. Times x2 that makes it 56 of your local currency. So there's savings to be made buying the FM edition.

Interesting link. I'm no economist; does that equate to the Russian economy being really bad, or just that Steam is getting screwed over big-time in Russia? (although their customers aren't, obviously!)
Price discrimination is actually a good thing for everyone. Russians face tanking income (especially when purchasing foreign goods), and thus should be discriminated heavily with low prices to maximise Paradox's profits. Video games have no marginal cost (minus key reselling), and thus should be sold at whatever price that maximises total sales revenue, which is really low for Russia.
