I've just started a campaign using TFH, and I'm intrigued by the Theatre Button on the menu bar. But I can't find any explanation or guidance on what it does, or how to use it.

The THF .pdf manual just seems to ignore it. In FTM all it seemed to do was assess how many more units a Theatre needed and you could click the build button to schedule them all for production. But in TFH it seems to have more functionality but I not sure how to use it.

Well, you know the player can let the A.I. manage anything or everything in this game. This is a guess but I imagine the unit-needed etc. would be what the A.I. would shoot for.

However, I never pay any attention to it because it seems out in left field; I don't know the parameters of the needed-numbers, so I will not criticize how it is set-up but i.e. currently I am playing as Japan and because I could build 1st generation light-tanks it has a few in the list for all theaters. If there is one thing I do not need atm, it is light tanks.:)

When I see 200 DDs or something like, I think, yeah right, but it could approximate some total for the entire war and against current enemy forces etc.

The only aspect about Theater I work on is creating/painting what would be a "Defensive A.I. Theater" where I might not want to hassle with a large region; the A.I. can be quite good at such tasks. Though, I almost always do everything myself.

It's not that aspect of the Theatre menu that is puzzling me. Like you I've looked at the build button several times (I even clicked it once), but wasn't very impressed with the AI's choice of troops.

But in TFH this menu option seems to have other functions. It lists fronts for example, and invites players to choose stances for them, and it includes both home and allied theatres. It looks like these should do something, but I can't wok out what, or how best to use them. One obvious advantage is that you can see at a glance how many troops your allies have available, but I think it must be able to do much more than that.

I can't say for sure, but in my experience it looks like something that wasn't finished since nothing I do there seems to stick. I was actually kind of excited on seeing it because it LOOKS useful at a glance.

No! That's what I'm thinking. It would also explain why nothing got written in the manual about it. I've been fiddling with it, but as far as I can see it doesn't do anything.
Maybe they discovered it was an A.I. hog and had to let it go. WAR probably made it a nightmare.:)
