how it works in regards to being over 100% i'm not sure. Its quite easy to get over 100% by picking the right ethos and government type

however in general its how willing your population is to accept slavery. a xenophile civ will be unhappy if slavery is turned on, let alone if actual slaves are taken. While taking xenophobe will let them tolerate alien slaves, rather than causing unhappiness.

Collectivists tolerate all slaves, including their own people for the greater good. Whereas xenophobes will be unhappy if any of your pops are enslaved by you.

if you plan on taking slaves, you definitely want tolerance to it otherwise your empire will be quite unhappy

But how much is enough to enslave pops. 50%=3 slaves on a planet without to much trouble or will 200% allow you to enslave all your pops

Actually, it should be mentioned that the collectivist slavery tolerance actually means how tolerant they are of being enslaved.

I wonder if slavery tolerance works as an additive quantity, or as really a percentile quality. If it is additive, I could imagine there being a base value for slavery tolerance that affects the chance of abolitionist movements, like maybe 20 for example, and the modifier would just increase it (having the 150% slavery tolerance that comes from having fanatical collectivism and the divine mandate would increase your slavery tolerance from 20 to 50). It would make more sense that way, since there would be a reason to have over 100% slavery tolerance, but I don't know how to translate the modifier into "chance for Abolitionist movement rising".

Though now I think about it, the wording of it doesn't hint any clues towards an additive property, and there are no associated negative-slavery-tolerance modifiers.

you can have 200% slave tolerance I think. fanatical collectivism with Transcendent Empire (upgrade of the divine mandate)

According to Wiz anything above 100% has no effect.
Well that is a shame.

However, there is still use in having over 100% slave tolerance. There are bound to be events involving slavery even for the most collectivist of races that decrease slave tolerance, and having 150% or 200% slave tolerance gives you a lot of room to take slave tolerance hits. It's like religious unity in EU4 then.

Just want to know how it works.
Because you can get more than 100%
Did not see any of this on twich

You can't get more than 100%. I'm guessing the game has an "x" base value for slave tolerance for all empires and then it can get a multiplier to that value of either 1.5 or 2 depending on your Ethos:

Capture1.PNG
Capture2.PNG

I'm assuming the tolerance will affect POP happiness. So if you plan on playing that way, you should take an Ethos that will benefit that play style.

however in general its how willing your population is to accept slavery. a xenophile civ will be unhappy if slavery is turned on, let alone if actual slaves are taken. While taking xenophobe will let them tolerate alien slaves, rather than causing unhappiness.

I rolled fanatical collectivism and xenophilia (restricted to despotic empire) on Oscot's recent random species thread, and while it sound like it would be cool, I wonder about fundamental compatibility of such ethos now. As far as I know there is no way to set slavery to "primary species only", are they really going to be mad just from policy that allows universal slavery or only from practise of actually enslaving the aliens. On same account I wonder how the abolitionism that Wiz described on his twitter works. Will xenophiles try to abolish slavery of even their own species eventually, and would free xenophile aliens living in your empire try to abolish slavery of the primary species (even if the primary species is conformist hive-mindish insectoid one, #ZerglingLivesMatter).

i think it'll actually be pretty hard to keep up enslaving your own race. you'd need a very particular set of ethos that won't last long outside your capital.

enslaving aliens though, i wonder if xenophile should get a tiny positive modifier on that. like a nice slavemaster or a naive understanding.

You can't get more than 100%. I'm guessing the game has an "x" base value for slave tolerance for all empires and then it can get a multiplier to that value of either 1.5 or 2 depending on your Ethos:

I'm assuming the tolerance will affect POP happiness. So if you plan on playing that way, you should take an Ethos that will benefit that play style.

you forgot to add government bonuses that take it over 100%. such as divine mandate

Government bonuses cover all pops so the faith dictatorship makes aliens more content slaves even if they aren't collectivist ethos themselves.

Despotic hegemony gives a 10% bonus to food and mineral production, that + the unknown slave bonus + any food or mineral boosting traits means you can set yourself up to excel in those 2 resources as a collectivists. Fanatic collectivists can basically just enslave their own farmers and miners to just plain make them better. Fanatic individualist is incompatible with the energy boosting plutocratic oligarchy government and prevents you tinkering with your pop arrangements it honestly seems like quite a constricting ethos for now it increases pop freedom by reducing your freedom as the player.

True that If you go fanatic collectivist and Spiritualist (which is needed to unlock Divine Mandate) you could get over 100%. Although @Wiz Tweeted that you can't go over 100%. So I guess you'd be capped at 100% and your build would be broken taking that government type with those Ethoses.
