Because, further events may or may not, be possible only by certain events already having taken place, remove the creation of Vichy could therefore prevent other alternative historical outcomes from ocuring because you interupt the flow of events.

I don't know what cities should be used to trigger vichy but it shouldn't be too hard as you don't want get bogged down in a unhistorically lengthened french campaign and also it shouldn't be too hard for the ai to do.

Yes I agree the vaste majority of the time an AI France should surrender once the Vichy event becomes available. Otherwise than WWII becomes another Franco-Prussian war or a WWI where the French refuse to surrender in spite of initial reverses, so they are not strong enough to defeat Germany and the two countries just beat on each other until one gives up.

Good point, but I wasn't suggesting removing the event just wanted to talk about it since it looked like it was a bit artificial and made already bad French prospects appear much worse.

How do you get them to load their troops on your transports? Good idea though, but its kind of what I was afraid players were going to do. Historically French soldiers would probably not have willingly left the country when it was being over-run by a foriegn invader. Even the French who were evacuated at Dunkirk were shipped right back to France even though the situation was getting pretty hopeless at that point.

One alternative outcome that i have seen, is Franco coming up on an unprepared france,( because there all off fighting the hun, if AH dont finish france quick, Franco gets all the good south of france areas, and AH wouldnt want that now would he...

In the diplomacy section, you have the ability to take control of a nations mil, its expensive in terms of political clout, say in the order of not meeddeling inth middle east or bringing greece into the democracy camp and thus an ally.

You can do that with other majors?! Well I guess the US did it to the UK during WWII and the French did it to the US and UK in WWI so I guess there is historical basis for it. IRL of course the French were in charge...though it probably would not have changed the outcome much if the British had been. The Western record against the Germans is pretty dismal until Alamein.

Yep the British definitly earned tons of prestige and honor in WW2...but they had a nearly inviolable home base, the French were not so lucky. I think if I had been there I would have thought surrender was probably the only way out as well. Its a hard choice to flee to Britain to keep on fighting when your family would be back in France...
