I would like to know how I should desinge my fleet(s) in the mid to late game.
Is it still worth building corvets, destroyers and cruisers?

Should I still mix my fleet with different ship types?
Is there a significant difference if my 30k fleet consists of 10 battle ships or if it consits out of 5 battelships with several minor ships who build up 30k power?

So far its much easier to just spam battleships and throw them into the battle.
Imo its too tedious to count the losses after every battle and then rebuild them, especially with the smaler ships who seem to get onehitted by bigger ships.

What do you guys do and why exactly?
Are there some synergies I am missing with mixed fleets?

Have you considered using the fleet manager? I believe the default hotkey is F9 or F10.

I always just spam battleships with the very efficient XL and L guns, with trackers and a titan with the tracking aura to deal with smaller ships.

You can make the argument for a screen of destroyers with point defense to shield your battleships from corvettes and missiles.

That's more to do with the meta of the different weapons and their effectiveness on the different hulls per fleet point.

I'm not fond of anything smaller than battleships in the late game anymore. Even in a winning battle they can take losses and run up your WE score, while battleships are more likely to just disengage. I build them like Amorenkaire, for the same reasons. Typically Giga Cannon/ Neutron Launcher. Against Crisis fleets maybe something different.

I've not tested cruisers since disengagement chance was changed, but now that destroyers and cruisers have the highest disengagement chance, they might have more suitability. Its rare that a battleship's HP will burn out before the disengagement chance pops it out of there, but it does happen.

Edit: TACHYON LANCE OR ELSE!

My later game fleet looks like a titan supporting battleships or just a large group of battleships. Typically, the fleet will either have focused arc emitters + cloud lightning or giga cannon + neutron launchers. If I have corvettes, they tend to be in smaller dedicated rapid response fleets and a mix of weapons: a few point defence + 2 plasma and more 1 gauss cannon + 2 plasma.

Nice screenshot.

I like artillery comps for the better range. If you can hit the enemy before they can hit you, their first shot will be weaker.

Battleships
Some more Battleships

With a sprinkle of enemy debuffing titans (better than ally buffs imho, because debuffs target the whole system, where the buffs only a circle around the titan)

Maybe some random corvettes as a fast response unit

I use arc+ cloud BBs or arc+ medium disruptors. They are good enough for the trash AI fleets and excellent vs the Grey Tempest, Contingency, Unbidden, FE and AFE.

Missile cruisers can also work and torpedo+ disruptors are good vs Grey Tempest.

Cruisers are usually better option than BBs until you get the late game tech for the BBs.

2:1:1:1 corvettes:destroyers:cruiser:battleships for me. Half-n-half picket-missile corvettes, artillery destroyers, missile/small guns cruisers, and artillery battleships.
Gives an even spread between cheap expendable units and gun size.
Use smaller versions of your main fleets to park at bastions, especially if you can't build a fortress world habitat to block entry into the rest of your empire.

Then an extra rapid-response fleet with only the aforementioned corvettes and destroyers.

For Titans, the shield and fire rate debuff auras come first, and you can have one of each in each major fleet.

I've found that the disengagement debuff is very handy because it lets you do more damage. Catching an enemy fleet sometimes is quite hard, but to have them flee is even worse.

Unfortunately the AI tends to still insist on using corvettes and destroyers even late into the game.

I normally has two type of fleet late game. First type is just battleship+Titan as everyone else does (BTW, I prefer neutron launcher + tachyon lance, since they are all energy weapon, I can focus on only two types of weapon repeatables, saving engingeering points to armor bonus) The other type is 10 corvettes with PD + 5 L slot destoryers. They are to capture all those star ports that doesn't worth the time of your primary fleets, but still counts towards occupation score.

You can find tons of different things if you just google stellaris 2.2 ship composition

Titan and a dozen or however many fits in your fleet cap battleships. The titan has hull repair module. Later on, two titans in the main hammer fleet, the other titan has FTL interdictor.

In the late game, I find that battleships with lance/artillery/artillery can punch through anything

If I keep the comp pure, awakened empires or crisis fleets can pick off 2/3 battleshipsein an engagement, so I take 5 each of cruisers and destroyers as sacrifices, filling the rest of my fleet cap with battleships and titans. I take care not to have two titans with the same aura in a fleet, but I tend to pile a lot of titans into one primary fleet.

Corvettes are for pirate patrolling, and even that becomes obsolete once I've built a gateway trade network. Every now and then I see folks claiming that evasion focused corvette swarms can be powerful, but I've yet to try it myself.
