I'm really good from 1500 on but medevial history really wasn't my field so I'm wondering what changes this start date will mean?

Spain: The reconqustia isn't complete. Spain, for that matter, doesn't exist as it is Aragorn and Castille.

France: Anglo-Burgundian forces control most of the north and Loire valley- including, IIRC, the Il de France region. Where will the French captial be? What are Joan of Arc's leader stats?

Burgundy: A powerful and learge Burgudnian state in the middle of Europe.

England: A major continental power becuase of territory in France.

Poland- Lithuania: Not united until around 1450 IIRC.

Turkey: Doesn't have Constantinople from the Byzantines.

Russia: Under the control of the Tartars and doesn't even have such key provinces as Novgorod or Tver.

Anyone can coreect me or add to the list. We thought we had some wild alternate histories with the 1492 start date- this opens up all kinds of scnarios as the "majors" in many cases aren't all that major yet.

I had completely forgot about Chinas power during the period. Would'nt it be cool if China's decline by distansing itself from anything foregin could be handeld whithin the domestic policy system.

Byzance is still there....
Portugal is about (with Henri the Navigator?) to explore the world
Jean sans Peur, duke of Bourgogne, is murdered as the dauphin Charles of France was trying to reconcile les Armagnacs (his party) with les Bourguignons. His son Philippe chooses the alliance with Henry V, leading to the treaty of Troyes in 1420 (with the approval of the Emperor) which gives the crown of France to the english scum...

I don't think many things will change in the Peninsula.
Portugal has the same 3 provinces
Granada has the same territory
Aragon will have Valencia Catalonia Gerona Rosellon Aragon Baleares and the spanish island in the mediterranean as by 1492.
Castilla is the rest.

The Reconquista could be simulated only if the period started 500 year before, at least.

1419 was the year Henry the Navigator founded his school at Sagres, yes? It's arguably the earliest event in the Age of European Exploration.

Cheers,
Paul Drye

Okay, okay. Enough with the French propaganda. The English were meanies, Henry V was a great leader who has a number of atrocities to his name, but let's not pretend the French weren't meanies, too.

Besides, the French started the war back in 1066.

If you are using the Spanish "y", it should be Castilla y Leon.

Yaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!

In 1419, all the English owned in France was Calais, Gascogne, and part of Normandy!!!! This really needs to be put somewhere official, at it seems to be an extremely common misconception around here that the English were already at the walls of Orleans in 1419, when in fact they were only at the walls of Rouen. The English didn't take over Paris, northern France, and the Liore valley until well into the 1420s. The Burgundians weren't even allied with them at the beginning of 1419; it was the assassination of the Duke of Burgundy during that year by rival French political forces that drove his son into supporting the English.
