EU3 already has 4 expansions a fifth would be insane, therefore VICKY2 ALL THE WAY
Of all Paradox games I’ve played, Rome was the one I most anticipated before release. After buying the Gold version, felt it didn’t quite deliver - the characters system felt too chaotic, high level of micromanagement, not much immersion…
Of course, the game feels like it has a lot of potential. And I’d be willing to spend on an expansion that improves the game mechanics (and dynasties CK style – make the characters matter!)… To me, it would be a much better selling point than providing bigger map or extended timelines… Don’t mind the Alexander theme, but it’s definitely not the main thing for me.
Anyway… nothing against the other games, but I do agree Rome is the one deserving a second chance.

Rome definitely could use another expansion. I bought the Gold edition and have had a blast playing it. However I would like to have more added to it. There is a significant amount of potential in Rome.

I really, really want another Rome expansion. But EU3 with HttT is so very good that I dream what it would be like, if it was better. For example, if the new CB system worked well. Alliance wide CBs (or CB effects) would be most welcome! RotW sounds interesting as well.

I wonder why an Alexander expansion for Rome would be interesting at all... I mean, if there's some beauty in EU: Rome then that's the political system. Why steamrolling over Asia with Alexander the Great is supposed to be fun is beyond my understanding.
Because as soon as Alexander died, the whole thing fell apart.
Heck, it almost fell apart with him at the helm even.
I imagine Paradox are using the Alexander theme as it's a popular and significant "bookmark" of the era. "EU Rome - Samnite Wars" or "EU Rome - Celt Invasion" just wouldn't have the same weight or appeal behind it.
They could've gone forward with "EU Rome - Emperors" or something, but an expansion focusing on Pax Romana and a map almost entirely dominated by Rome would have limited appeal for me.
EU Rome - The Fall of Rome sounds much better.
Because, AT LEAST ROME WAS INVOLVED IN THAT.
The Alexanderian era had nothing at all to do with Rome, Italy, or Europe. It was about North Africa, Asia Minor, and Central Asia. Screw Alexander. He shouldn't get his own expansion before Genghis Khan does.
Surely the expansion would just go back in time and let you play anywhere. Not necessarily go back in time and dedicate an entire campaign to Alexander.
Paradox will add an Alexander only expansion to EU: Rome as soon as they want to go the way of CA.

Again, I'm pretty sure Alexander is being used simply as a figurehead for the expansion. It's extremely unlikely that Paradox are going to remove everyone but Alexander from the game and force the player to perform his actions step by step. From what I gather, the Alexander theme is being used simply as an interesting starting point. Depending on the starting date, Rome would be at war with the Samnites and Alexander I (Alexander the Great's Uncle) would cross over to Italy to aid the Greeks against the Romans. I think it would be a more interesting start date than we have already.
Some people seem to be thinking that Paradox will abandon everything already in the game and simply give us a playable Alexander biography. I'm pretty sure the expansion will offer more gameplay features and options other than an Alexander character and bigger map. It's an expansion. It will expand the game. Napoleon's Ambition didn't force players to play as Napoleon.
This. I think the Rome TW Alexander expansion has left a bad taste in everyone's mouths.
Yeah, people seem to think that just because it's going to be Alexander expansion for Rome game it has to go the way of RTW: Alexander, which is the opposite of how Paradox does it's games. Alexander might be the theme of expansion, but it doesn't mean that's what it's all about. Every expansion so far with or without a new scenario or start date has also brought significant improvements to gameplay, which is the thing Rome needs most of all.
And Rome itself got plenty of action at the time. Frankly I much rather take Rome from relatively humble starting positions to dominate Italian peninsula and then whole Med world, than continue the game further in timeline when there awaits only centuries of Roman dominance.

I do agree with that.
Some pepole here act like there would allready be a final word on all this matters. Its just a Poll till now, what Paradox decides to make out of it is not jet decided as far as i can tell.
All we can do is vote, offer our opinion and arguments for one thing or the other.
IF, and thats a huge IF, a second addon for Rome gets to be made, i REALLY hope it would encompass much more than just an extended timeline and stuff about Alexander. The Game in its state now needs alot of improvement to stand up to what it should be. (atleast thats my opinion)
And i am relative sure that Paradox is aware of that and would deliver if they had the means (money, time,...) to do so. But in the end its a huge task and it should make money too, thats all not that easy

CK2 will happen at some point, surely. The original was a far better game than Victoria, which is getting shown love.

Using my years of experience on this forum, as well as some rudimentary reasoning based on the information offered in the poll choices, here are my predictions -

That is entirley dependent upon two things.
1-Yes, I agree that this entire poll is just a way to test how a rome expansion would be recieved. Therefore, I am guessing that support for an expansion is 50-50 for Rome and EU3.
2-Victoria 2's success. No way of getting around this, if Vicky 2 flops it well hamper any potentional development on games considered a risky investment.
Victoria 2, i want like eight expansions for that game so i can get a final perfect game
