Victoria 2 isn't out for another two months so that isn't a consideration to me right now.

To me Rome's the sensible option because of the timing for the others. That said I'll probably get the expansion no matter what game it's for.

If they were to announce an expansion to a game that's not out for months, I'd feel extremely inclined to not get the expansion and go to the forum to gripe bitterly about every freaking bug left in vanilla, 3D clipping issues included.

While I support a Rome expansion I must add that asia in EU3 is a bit worse than that.
Asia has fantasy states, provinces named after post-ww2 cities and geographical oddities like Delhi being on the wrong side of the Himalayas or one of Indias CoTs being placed in a giant swampland with mostly pastoralist tribes (Kutch).
Paradox's "India blindness" seems pretty pervasive, actually. In HoI (all versions) units for use in India have to be built in the UK and shipped there, when India raised a 2.5 million man volunteer army and provided 50 divisions that fought around the world (Malaysia, Italy, Egypt, Libya, Burma, Madagascar...). Apart from 'specialist' items like tanks and airframes (which tended to be shipped in "flat-packed" and assembled in India) the vast bulk of the equipment for this army was Indian made, yet each division has to be raised in the British Isles and sailed around the Cape... Victoria may be the only title to date that has treated India reasonably - and even that may be because I haven't looked closely enough! ;)

If they were to announce an expansion to a game that's not out for months, I'd feel extremely inclined to not get the expansion and go to the forum to gripe bitterly about every freaking bug left in vanilla, 3D clipping issues included.
May I congratulate you on being so restrained? There seem to be many who are keen to follow this course of action without any such announcement - and with several of the "bugs" they gripe about amounting to "this game doesn't play out the way I want/expect it to!"...

Just a bit of browsing through the AAR forums would net you an observation of just how many people take minor countries into greatness.

I'd admit of all Paradox games HOI is the one that is more "major" centered, which is understandable, although haven't you heard of WC Tibet or Haiti? :)

...and? A WC as Haiti doesn't exactly sound like anyone except for people obsessed about painting the world with their country's color would want to play. It's the very definition of tedious.

You people seem to forget that EU didn't let you play as the minors at all, without getting into the game files, and CK was originally planned to only let you play kingdoms.

But NOT letting you play (and even hopefully lose) as minors in any new EU-style game would be so Total War-ish.

I find it very satisfying to succeed in turning a minor or doomed nation into major power, and therefore I almost exclusively start as an OPM. Choosing a country that is already a major power feels like cheating to me.

It is right that major countries get more attention, but completely disabling the ability choose minors would be a bit over the edge.

I have most of the grand Strategy games from Paradox (since you guys are about the only ones to cater well to the niche) and EU3 is the most accomplished of all those products. you may dislike the period but you have to agree with the comfort :p

A new expansion for EU3, one that would add more on ROTW but also give more diplmatic choice (bi/multi lateral peace treaties) and allow for general EXP gain.

It sounds hard to pull off, but if someone can I trust it's PI. (or EA if they manage to buy you out... which i hope won't happen...)

Well, I was planning on getting Victoria 2 before and being a completionist I'd want the expansion packs particularly because I've had good experiences with PI's expansions. I won't bother making it an issue to state my grievance in every thread. I'll just quietly act with my wallet. It'll adversely affect future purchases of PI developed games and what they distribute via GamersGate.

Voted for EU3:ROTW. HOI3 is getting one at the moment and vic2 isn't ready yet, and rome hasn't touched my computer yet :)

Rome would touch you like a Catholic Priest at an all-male boarding school if it got an expansion. ;)

I would prefer an expansion to Rome. I enjoyed roleplaying in Rome a lot and the political system was also great. I think a bigger map expanded into Asia , a better economic-trade and technology system, and more options in combat (more different units or some use of tactics and formation settings to give an advantage or something) would definatly make this product a whole lot better.

I prefer it more then an EU3 expansion with Magna Mundi around the corner.

That is one of the things I love about Paradox games: the difficulty level is primarily scaled by the country you play, not arbitrary settings.

I think "winning" a Paradox game is a self-defeating goal - it's like winning in a playground by tossing all the other kids out ;)

I'd like to see EU3 cleaned up a little bit with a rotw expansion.

Distinctive cultural adviser images.
Cultural loading screens and music based on country selections.
Ruler images and expanded details.

As well as general features like advanced military organization and more depth to the combat and improved unit graphics.

I must cast in my two cents on this. Rome was amazing and an expansion would make me excited, but at the same time i've always wanted to see what Paradox would do with the American Civil War. An Alexander expansion would be cool though considering a big "what if Alexander's empire held together" type deal, but the map would have to be revised and slightly expanded to have borders with India and such, make more Barbarian tribes that are playable, typical Paradox fans fantasies haha
