I can imagine either a WW1 dlc, an espionage dlc, or a diplomatic dlc
Diplomacy is already in the game though, Espionage would be all new. I think the expansions will focus on parts of WW2 before ever going beyond '36-'48.
I'm hoping one of them is a WW1 DLC, but I'm guessing it's a bit early for that and they'll probably both be focused on expanding game-play features (e.g., espionage, diplomacy)
Good point, I doubt they're going to put so much time and energy into a WW2 focused game just to double down right away on tons of more content. They'll probably go steady with smaller scale expansions, country specific content like NF trees, and graphic/music DLCs.
I would love to see Paradox attempt a WW1 DLC. The interest is obviously there, and it really doesn't look like they're going to make a WW1 game.
Yes but who knows, with information spreading via internet and the centennial anniversary it's getting more attention lately. Plus...Battlefield 1...perhaps a sign of things to come.
I think that WW1 needs a whole new game. It was a very static war though,so I don't know that can be succefully modelled in a game.
I believe Paradox would rightly give it its own game, but I also believe 'static warfare' can be modeled
well enough in a HOI4 mod. Tweaking unit stats, techs/doctrines, combat modifiers, entrenchment, attrition etc together should offer a synergistic way to achieve this goal.
Or WW1 Espionage!
WW1 and Diplomatic , I think .
How about WW1 Diplomacy?

A World War One scenario would be pretty awesome.

World War I would be more fitting for Victoria 3 (please, Paradox, announce it already).
Cold War could be very interesting. They probably did lot's of research for East vs West (which then sadly got cancelled), so if it that doesn't make it to a separate game, it might be put to use in a DLC.
I'd also love a Sabaton Music DLC, but that probably doesn't count as a major DLC.
Of course, though Victoria covers a fairly large span of time compared to HOI and warfaring in Vicky isn't nearly as detailed as in HOI. Plus Victoria combat is designed for Napoleonic tactics. Practically as soon as WW1 began warfare as it had been known was suddenly and radically changed.
More National Focus Trees.
possibly grouped ones like minor axis powers
Commonwealth country
Latin American
Scandinavian (possibly Finland having its own because it did alot during the war in terms of options)
Chinese or at least nationalist Chinese
Its what a lot of peoples biggest criticism has been and if you remember when EU IV cam out there was not that many national ideas but over time most country's have unique ideas now.
I personally want to see a earlier start date like 1933 or something like DH. or WW1 I doubt it will ever been anywhere past Korea for a cold war DLC the mechanics just don't suit it.
I agree and wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the DLCs turn out to be music and country specific content like the sprites and Poland DLC.
It depends on the quality of the base product really. In HoI3 they published 3 expansions all trying to fix that mess without ever really succeeding. Vicky 2 was a good base product and the expansions combined gameplay fixes (like fixing the micro hell that was influence) and content additions. I believe that HoI4 will offer a great base product that doesn't need expansions to fix it. After all, that's what PDS did for the better part of the last year. Instead I expect quality expansions. What they actually add won't be set in stone yet, as it always depends on user feedback. Just don't expect crazy stuff like WW1 or Cold War expansions, that's least likely.
Agreed. Although games like CK and EU see their timelines expanded, that hasn't been the norm with HOI.
