I enjoy HOI2 in any form, but am interested in knowing which mod, in most people's opinion, adds the most realistic historical flavour. Hope this is the right spot to ask this question.

Well, I don't know about the MOST historically accurate, but SMEP is the best addition to vanilla HOI in my opinion. SMEP does make the game more historical and realistic, but it leaves the game open for whatever the user wants to do. If you want the game to play out historically, you can, but if you want to change history, it allows you to do that too. You can do it in a minor way, or drastically, but no matter what route you choose, the game flows almost flawlessly.

Another great thing is that SMEP is updated all the time. So whenever a bug is found, or another idea is presented, it's usually implemented into the game within a week!

Get SMEP. It rocks!!

I actually do have SMEP, and use it. I have not updated it, so I guess I should get on with doing that.

Thanks

TRP is probably the most realistic but IMHO it's not too fun as it's pretty deterministic. HSR is historically accurate without sacrificing gameplay. You already play SMEP but I second that recommendation - it's generally what I play.

There's also Starfire and HIP that you should take a look at. I haven't played them too much but I think Starfire is also quite close to vanilla but makes things like combat more realistic.
