What do you guys think IGN would give HOI4 in terms of score?

I played Stellaris for 10 hours yesterday, and I would have given it at least an 8. There were some slow downs in the game where I just waited for tech, but I see the game for what it is, and it has a ton of potential. You guys have done an admirable job.
Has anyone actually read the Review. The guy has a lot of good points, great early game, dull mid game and strange end game. But this is what I saw in stellaris twitch videos, even blorg guys were confused at times with fleet management and sneaky chaotic battles.
Watch Daniels stream. I believe game has a huge potential and early game is the best I've seen in master of Orion class, but mud and late game must be improved.
Concerning hoi 4 as the game was delayed by almost a year and Johan himself joined a team it looks very good right now. The game through has a lot of issues with AI and balance, which might get better by the release. I hope at least cause I already but booked few days off work.
If everything works hoi should get a score well above 8.

Lets hope that never happens. He's never tried Hearts of Iron before, let alone a grand strategy game. In addition, he often complains about stuff which he hasnt himself witnessed (but been told by others). In his battlefront review, he complained about certain weapons being overpowered, but he never actually unlocked and tried those weapons himself. Lets hope he stays away from Hearts of Iron.

A real "professional" critic should go deeper than just his personal taste. I agree with you he must explain with some precision why he like or not a game. Good critics will tell what kind of people will like the game even if they didn't like it personally.
Trying to fit totally unrelated games from different genres leads to the score wonkiness. It'd be like me saying that my television is a 9, but my refrigerator is a 6.5. That's sort of meaningless. I think the content of the IGN review was largely correct. The issues identified with the game are real issues, and the praise for the game is deserved as well. If it wasn't for the meaningless number at the end, I don't think anyone would even be shocked or upset by the review itself.
I'd expect the same for HOI4... A thoughtful and largely accurate review of its merits followed by a meaningless number that freaks everyone out.

He probably will review both of them, but fear not: he played Stellaris on his stream a view days ago and really liked it.
he also is a self declared fan of Paradox Interactive so i can't see how a review from him could hurt
