Other than Verse which is obvious, what type of weapons do you use for your companions?

The sage is simple, keep him with shield and thrown.

Baruk particularly is a hard decision. Someone needs to use all those 2 hander artifacts... but he's best used as a tank.

What about the others?

Verse is not obvious tbh.

She can make a great tank with +20 dodge stance, dodge=parry talent and +30 dodge passive (+50 dodge overall and uses dodge instead of parry). If you give her a dodge shield on top of that should be near untouchable by physical attacks. She doesn't hold aggro well so leveling lore and emotion sigil would be helpful for the taunt spells.

Barrik is bad later on tbh. His armour is good at the start but eventually he kinda falls off. Going 2h might be a good idea for him anyway since with 1h he doesn't punish foes disengaging him quite enough and AI doesn't seem to give a shit about engagement (on PotD at least).

Lantry is best used as a spellcaster with his +30 lore, you can use staff to get control magic xp for those rare cases you use basic attack, but anything + shield would work too if you want him to be bit more tanky.

Eb can make a great tank mage with all that life drain and +6 armour passive, but you can also make her a good ranged damage dealer with that double attack when not attacked passive. So you can roll pretty much whatever you want with her ranging from light armour and staff to heavy armour and shield tank.

Sirin is imo best used as a tank, performance gets most bonuses from vitality and her songs are mostly short range around herself, so you pretty much need to be in the thick of it for the offensive ones to work. Get life, fire and emotion magic which also benefits from vitality and helps taunting foes (taunting them and then kiting with engagement immunity is quite ridiculous). You can use her at range just as another mage with the buff songs though. So again pretty flexible.

KIS I haven't tried to make her work tbh, squishy melee doesn't strike me as something great for PotD. You don't have many equipment options for her in any case.

KIS is a damage dealer but lacks abilities

barrik is wierd because he is the sole reason i think getting the forge is worth it for upgrading his armor so he is more tanky

I loaded KIS up with one of those artifact swords (the lightning one), buffed her with the vigor spell which increases damage + the spell that added more lightning damage with a volcanic (?) accent (?). She killed everything.
