I am really struggling to find a decent design for these old tanks using the 1934 chassis. The low base reliability makes it really hard to get this vehicle fast enough to keep up with the 1936 light tanks or the motorized infantry. Any ideas?

I am a little adverse to adding them to infantry in a SP game since this would be like making space marines against the AI.

I suppose I could assign them, as is, to garrisons to harden them up?

On a side note... In my latest game I am playing with Expert AI enabled and I only got 50 Czech tanks in November of 1938. I have always captured hundreds of vehicles in the past... hmm...

You could try upgrading them to assault guns or TDs the issue is like you said their reliabity is and other factors are so low its almost better to safe the XP and put into the 1936 light tanks. You could use the old tanks as flamethrower support companies at least until you can get better tanks on line to do that or convert them to AA tanks?

Armored Recon for infantry units works. But you can also just make them as fast as you need them and accept some breakage as that is still better use then nothing.

Why one worry too much about tank speed and not tank cost! The best use is still using as tank mixed with newer tank, the stats is a bit fewer but save a lot of cost and time to produce them. Add a medium tank to a light tank division, then you get a medium tank division.

Another use, to use them as light tank recon if you use SF-R to get +50% soft attack, otherwise it is too costly.

I too like the idea of using them for garrison divisions. Just add a battalion or two to your garrison division and in the equipment tab uncheck all the light tanks you actually want for your combat divisions so that your garrisons don’t sap your panzer II’s. This is good since it increases hardness thus lowering manpower losses to resistance. And it’s historical as a lot of German security divisions had some old obsolete and captured light tanks.

This is the correct response. I should have explained that obsolete armor adds hardness to garrisons, stopping manpower losses.

Last time i try this it does not work.
Garrisobs always take out the newest stuff and leave old tanks tot in stock. Was that changed anytime?

Since the 1.11 Version and DLC "No Step Back" you can build the Tanks and Devisions much more realistic. My Army of the beginning WW 2 shows as follows:

1. Tank I: There are 7 Devisions, which are 4 Devisions with the I A-Variant and 3 with the I B-Variant; 6 are Standard-Trained to maximum; 1 of the Type I A-Devison is the famous "Legion Condor-Veteran"

1.a Tank I A-Prototype: The SCW-Devison "Legion Condor" get the "Breda-Modification" during the SCW to give the Tank I A more Fighting-Effectivnes (the first small Gun); that Devision help after the SCW to protect the Western Border!

1.b official Tank I B-Prototype-Upgrade: 1 of the Standard-Tank I B-Devision get the official Prototype-Refit with the second small Gun [R & D]) to Tank I C = Paratrooper-Tanks

1.c official Tank I B-Prototpye-Upgrade: 1 of the Standard-Tank I B-Devision get the official Prototype-Refit with heavy Armor [casted Armor or what it get called] to Tank I F = Infantery-Tanks

1.d Tank I Standard-Upgrade: 1 of the Standard-Tank I A-Devision get the officiall AA-Upgrade

1.e Tank I Standard-Upgraded: the last 1 of the Tank I B-Devisions get the official Arty (SiG 33) Upgrade

1.f Tank I Standard-Upgrade: 1 of the Standard-Tank I A-Devision get the official Tank-Destroyer (Tschech 4,8-cm-AT) Upgrade

1.g Tank I Standard-Upgrade: 1 of the Standard-Tank I A-Devision get the official Tank-Leader Upgrade (Leader of the Tank-Devisions)

1.h Tank I Stanard- / Prototypes-Upgrades I have forgotten like Fire etc.

Similar Refits, Upgrades, Reworks, Prototypes etc. will be done with the Tank IIs, Tank IIIs, Tank IVs as well as Tank 35 (t), Tank 38 (t) and loot Tanks from other Countrys as historical possible.

The normal Tank-Vehicles get used too for Garission-Duty etc.

In the Future we will see, belongs what the Devs bring us for big and Important missing Refits / Reworks / Upgrades in the Army-, Navy- and Airforce- as well as Industry-, Technology- & Economy-Part.

I use the crap tanks (just as crap air craft) as training vehicles. In other words, once the stockpile of current equipment turns positive, I send some new divisions into the training/deployment queue. These will then suck up the old crap, use it while they train, and during training it gets slowly replaced with current tanks. So that, by the time they're finished training, they have a full complement of the good stuff, and the training stuff is back in storage. Ready for another round.
