I am getting this nxt week.
With europa universalis there was a few things i thought was essential to mod out.
like the penalty for trading if you owned foreign trade centres. also made missionaries 100% effective because i found that aspect of the game annoying.

are there any features in rome that are commonly modded out or disliked?

Until the next patch:

1. Citizens to RP rate. I raised it from 1 to 2.

2. Land Damage rate. .1 to .3

3. Reinforcement rate .05 to .01. I really don't like the units getting auto-reinforced so I use this setting to simulate the return of straggles and sick/wounded to the ranks. Meaningful reinforcement must be brought from the homeland.

4. I have also changed the names of many units.

Yes, Land Damage increases combat casualties and greatly recuces the army chasing. Citizens to RP increases the Research Points for each Citizen and brings the rate up to a reasonable level. The Research rate seems much too slow at the moment. Both can be tweaked in the Common/Defines folder.

To make research faster

2. Land Damage rate. .1 to .3

To make more soldiers die in battle => reduce ping pong

To make reinforcements more realistic. Maybe not the general concensus on how it should be, but of course a choice. Also one way to reduce ping pong.

4. I have also changed the names of many units.

No need to explain ;)

This sort of discussion properly belongs in the Mods subforum, which pontypool can't see yet since the game hasn't been bought yet.

When you do buy the game in a week, register it and go to the Mods subforum, which will be visible, and you'll find quite a bit of stuff there.

Also, in week, I imagine that there will be some updates to the Mods that are already finished. :)
