ok well a ground division probably is just what it sounds like, mayb 10000 to 15000 troops, and their vehicles

and this shadowy "johan" figure ;) has stated that a submarine division in the game is 5 submarines, but i would like to ask how many aircraft does an air division represent

im thinking this is different for the various types, with heavy bombers being maybe 6 or so a division and fighters 10 or more

can anyone comment on this?

and does anyone know how many u boats were in a german u boat flotilla?

ill try looking for this stuff on www.feldgrau.com, but id still appreciate a response on here ;)

edit: http://wwiivehicles.com/html/germany/ so.... sexy.... ;)

For aircraft:
Transport planes are supposed to represent 1000
The others I am not sure

For German submarine flotillas, I'll get back to you.

I just noticed that the site lists the uboots as a tally count, not the actual number of uboots that were in service for that flotilla at one time.

PS: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114330

hmm, right you are

foiled! ;)

yes i cant find what the average number of boats in the flotilla was at any one time. my estimate would be maybe 20-40, but this could be way off

edit: correct me if you find any concrete information, will ya?

more edit: and for the ps thing, what am i looking for? man theres a couple of pairs of new eyeballs worth of forum trawling in there ;)

"Based on the IS-1 with a longer turret to accept the 122mm, which was designed by General F. Petrov. Initially had a single muzzle brake which later became a double. Was accepted for production on October 31, 1943.
The first one was finished in January 1944 at the Chelyabinsk factory. Had a cast hull front. The ammunition was in 2 parts which slowed it's loading. First battle was in February 1944 at Korsun Shevcherkov (Chevchenkovski).
A guard tank brigade had:

3 regiments
65 IS-2s each"

thats very neatly an elite tank division in hoi 2 ;)

or just three tank divisions with heavy tank brigades, called 5th Guards Tank Army or some jazz like that ;)

i want to play hoi 2 more than ever

re: pz VI tiger

"Were organized into independent 3 company battalions with 30 tanks that would be attached to Army or Corp HQ. Guderian had intended that a battalion would be added to each Panzer division but only a few Army and most Waffen SS received them."

an air division for things like Stuka's and the like is 4 squadrens example being
I/StG 2 JU-87(38)
II/StG 2 JU-87(38)
II/StG 2 JU-87(40)

then there was usually a Stab/StG 2 or something like that so i would say about 150 planes in StG 2 "Immelman" which was hans ulrich rudels unit.
As for fighters i can say since the units i am looking at varied from 9 ME-109s to 48 ME-109s. So there you go a little info to put together maybe wrong maybe close, or maybe right on the money!

if you can post a link to where you got this info, i will be your friend ;)

jk, but id be grateful if you did. about the numbers, they sound good, and each one of the gruppen there, I/II/III, would prolly be just one air division in hoi 2

thanks for the responses so far guys :)

well to be truthful i got the info from a book i got called "German Warplanes of World War II" And in the back next to the index it has info about the units and the years and locations they were at, plus some info on the top aces, so if you ever want to know who had how many kills i can tell you everyone that had 100+ kills! :) sorry to use info you guys can't pull up at the blink of an eye.

"The basic element in the Jagdwaffe was the Rotte, consisting of two aircraft. Two Rotten formed a Schwarm and three or four Schwarms made a Staffel. Similarly, three or four Staffeln formed a Gruppe and three or four Gruppen formed the largest mobile homogeneous unit in the Jagdwaffe, the Jadgeschwader."

after some very exhausting finger counting ;), that makes the number per gruppe as about 30 to 40 ish

this site, providing this ISNT the site you got YOUR info from ;), confirms what you said about the stuka geschwader gruppen

so i guess thats one more question answered in the world... :D
