i am a little curious..what kind of tank division does podcat go about designing? Or what kind of motorized does Johan do? We all know that they participated for the press event, I can't be the only one curious what kind of divisions they designed. Granted, we saw the other people's divisions, but they're noobs at Hoi4 compared to the actual people who worked on the game. So pretty please, share with us some of your designs :D

Even if they would not have participated in the press event, the devs play plenty HoI4 with eachother to 'test' it. ;) Meanwhile we are sitting here with extreme cases of HoI withdrawal.

The DD the other day showed a mainly light tank mix with one battalion of mediums thrown in. I'm wondering if that is worth the slower speed for the whole unit?

Do mixed brigades create a blend of skills or just limit everything to the lowest common denominator?

I like to play France and I'm thinking of their DLM's. Will I get advantages from mixing lights with motorised inf?

Thanks,
Dury

This, I am also curious what the advantage of mixing light tanks in with medium is.

speed and cost bang-for-buck.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks!

I assume there's a mix of light and regular armor because medium tanks were recently developed in that game. If you did a 100% replacement, all your armored divisions would ship their light tanks back to the pool, but there wouldn't be very many medium tanks manufactured yet. So all your armored divisions would sit around at 5% equipment like idiots. Instead, first you switch one battalion, and when everyone's back up to full strength you switch a second battalion, etc.

Light tanks should be powerful in the early game but later on get phased out to a secondary role. As the "armor vs penetration"-war waged on, the light tanks became badly obsolescent.
So perhaps they should be OP from '36-'40 but after that, they would be useless in any type of armor engagement. Light tanks also was badly vulnerable to the ever increasing presence of AT-weapons on the battlefield.

yeah basically. looking at german divisions they had a mix because there wasnt enough stuff manufactured for a complete change. HOI4 is different from HOI3 in that you wont really have your whole army using the most modern stuff all the time and the pre-war years are important for building up stockpiles of the stuff you'll need because industry probably wont keep up with losses.
