It is possible, but rare. I actually managed it, when targetting a currently at war country that had few money left. Offering a decent-sized loan, with a very low interest rate, succeeded.

But it's no more the automatic CB-forger exploit of old times. Thankfully. :)

How often would you estimate it works? I know theoretically its possible but I once spent half an hour trying to get nations to accept and not one would.

Somebody once said that once you got a refusal, you'd better not try before a year, at least not with the same country. But I'm not sure it's confirmed.

As I said, it works - sometimes. Conditions have to be right, and luck has to be domesticated.

Loans are no problem...

I´ve got no problems lending out money.. the computer accepts insaene loans, for example: I played sweden and lended out 4000 with 10% rent to persia for 300 months.... I became really welthy...

I do not know wich patch but I play very hard.... but I know it is easier to lend out money to larger nations and those nations who are in war with others...
Did you download a patch from Paradox's official site ? If not, you're playing a very old version of the game, when it was ridiculously easy to lend money (way too easy to not be an exploit).

Update to 1.09, the game is much better. Less bugs, more interesting features. :)

I odn't know about 1.09 but in 1.08 I usualy managed to get loans accpted if I offered decent conditions for short periods while the other country was at war.

Very usefull to give a chance to small "just rebeled" nations from your enemies, even if sometimes you end up loosing the money.

Perhabs the system would work better if countries could ASK for money instead.

And if rebels on the other side of borders could too :p

Eh, if you want to help a newbie nation just give 'em a gift. Maybe they'll let you vassalize 'em later

I thought it was made impossible to stop loan sharking

I got to say I have no idea, I don't even try anymore, I was so sure it was made impossible :eek:o that's an idea for a patch: just state it's impossible, and people won't do it

Louis,
It won't work, some people will still try (either on purpose, or newbies who didn't know it was supposed to be impossible).

In multiplayer at least, when you give a country a gift it doesn't actually get added to their treasury....at least last time I checked....it just vanishes after increasing your relations....

Eh? It has worked in every game I've played the last year and a half (and there were quite a few)... from player to player at least. Not sure about player to AI gifts... don't think anyone really cared about those :)
