What country will you start as?

England most likely as its forgiving to newer players which I am one. Then Prussia to try and create the German empire.

Are the wastelands going to be unattractive? Yes, wastelands affect which nation I choose, that's why I usually don't play as an Asian nation. I might play the Timurids or Ming if the wastelands aren't ugly on the physical or political map.

Probably Austria or Burgundy because of the wide range of options. And who doesn't like good old Austrian North America?

France or Sweden on first time to learn the system. After that probably Ming, Japan, Korea, Manchu. After that I probably know the game well enough to survive as Byzantium.

First time I will play Sweden. I always star with Sweden in Paradox-games. It's my home country, and the geographical and historical area I know the best. I plan to try to make them a really good military power and hold all of the territories around the baltic. I don't think I will focus anything really on trade since the trade possibilities in the Baltic doesn't seem too good. Basically only two inflows, from the east, far inland where I don't really want to take any provinces. Focus admin to raise tax base and stuff and militarily on quality and aristoratic ideas. Focus naval on Galleys or what they are called.

After that I do different "missions" that I think would be fun. Like turning Burgundy into netherlands and making them the richest nation on earth by trade and colonization.

Iraq (Jalayrids) in a marathon game to form the Mughal Empire.
Genua in a trade game
Switzerland in becomming a dominating central European Power.
Byzantine Empire in a weird Suez-Channelish East African Colonisation game.
Malakka in a Pirates of the East Indies game..
And then some very early independend colony in the Americas.

I'll have to get drunk alot during summer, so that time passes by faster till fall..:happy:
