I'd start out with Sweden (because... I live there), but I'd also like to play the Confederacy (change history big-time) and Prussia (because they are cool).

PS For those of you who have no clue what that means, Greece wanted to take the name Byzantium, but Western Europe thought it was a little to threatening and forced them to accept the name Greece. They felt Greece was a much more 'happy' name because Byzantium implied EMPIRE

You're a litle late though. By 1835, Greek independence was already quite secured...

Texas.... Not only will I not join the Union, but when the civil war breaks out I just may see if I can nab some territory from the confederacy... Either way I believe it is Texas' manifest destiny that Texas stretch from the Missisippi to the Pacific and from the Gulf of Mexico to the Rocky Mountains.

I think Spain and Turkey will be countries for any player looking for a challenge. They have not quite fell into complete decay yet, but they are on their way. Should be really nice to see if you can reverse the trends of these two countries during this period.

Think it well, I believe that Spain is more an impossible mission than a challenge. Nationalism, civil wars (The three Carlista´s Wars), underdevelopment with respect to other nations of Europe, conial revolts, The War of Cuba with USA, etc...
In conclusion, If you want a lot of fun, yo should take Spain!!...

Best idea is to work on trying to develop the homeland, and stop revolts when you can. All Spain really needed was a little while to rest and reconsolidate. After that she can try to move back into some of her more worth while colonies. Maybe it would be a good idea to side with the Confederates when they come allong because every one knows if you let the the United States build up they will kick the living crape out of you. Also hopefully the game will not be so pre-determined that I will get all those revolts if I can bring some real stability and prosperity the Empire. I allways hated getting bankruptcies when I was making 500$ a month, and had less than 10 inflation.
