If possible I'd play as a tribe/nation of Africa or the Native Americans, if thats not possible then Japan. Or i could always play as Columbia and resist the French and American attepts at a canal.

USA, definately. A new, kindler manefest destiny, spreading from "pole to shining pole." First, squash the native peoples. Second, adios Mexico. Get to Panama before 1861, then transfer the experienced Regular Army to stomp the CSA before the end of the year. Then....the Irish Rebellion can REALLY begin! I think the Fenians just needed a couple hundred thousand Union troops and some ironclads to really give the boot to John Bull...

I will play USA, to learn the ropes, and Unite the Americas under the Stars and Stripes. I will also play Russia, and would like to play Poland, except that I don't think it was an independent country at the time.

Too bad you cant take your completed game from EU2 and continue it into Victoria. Then you could really rewrite history.

I'm probably going to play the first game with
Russia, just to learn all the new stuff in Victoria.
After that maybe I'll play with Sweden or China.

And of course FINLAND if it is possible.

I'll play the USA first. Learn to handle the interface, do a little diplomacy with Haiti, and then, when you've gotten to the point where you know the military interface, mercilessly crush Mexico and annex everything down to and including Baja California and the northern Mexican states.

And when the civil war rolls around, I'll see if I can play the Rebels... liberate Maryland and Missouri, and then once the Yankees are put back in their place, make the Caribbean MINE! MUAHAHAHAHA

Then I'll see if I can get enough immigration from Europe to fill my western territories (New Mexico, Chiuhuaha, Sonora, Texas) with people. Next projects: Building a Panama or Nicaragua canal, and then fighting the ultimate showdown with the USA in WW1. But unlike in a certain Turtledove novel, I'm going to win this one as the CSA.

I'll see what Vicky lets me do about the race issue. My aim is a super-nationalist enlightened CSA where Blacks are fully integrated and where they will be just as nationalistic as my white subjects, er, citizens. No Red Revolution in my CSA.

I will start as Sweden, trying to make them communists, or at least socialists. I will try to keep on to Norway and reclaim Finland. I will colonize some in Africa and build as many troops as possible and when the time comes stop the German threat during ww1.

its hard to pick a nation I'd like to play FIRST. since the first game is usually mostly a learning experience (and the 2nd and the 3rd, and maybe even the 4th) most of the time I only play the game for one session, starting a new one the next time i sit down to play so that i can do all my stupid mistakes over again . But, for my first MP game, which will probly be the first real game i play, i am thinking that the great empires of Russia or Austria-Hungary sound likely to be the nation i will lead to greatness.
