I don't think I've seen this mentioned or asked anywhere, so I thought I'd bring it up.

We know that Germany will get various 'free' CBs via its National Focus tree, and that fascist nations can declare war on anyone once they're already at war. Presumably Germany will begin with claims on Alsace-Lorraine and Luxembourg, as these were always seen as integral parts of the Reich and were to be annexed directly into it, rather than being part of any kind of puppet state.

@podcat

Is this indeed the case?

EDIT: Also, random off-topic question: will railway/heavy siege artillery be modelled at all? i.e. the Paris gun (WW1), Schwerer Gustav, Morser Karl, etc.

As far as i know (and if i remember correctly from HoI III) alsace-lorraine isnt a core for germany in 1936. "Poznan" (Posen) and "Gdanzk" (Danzig) are tho. I didnt see any indication in the WWW streams that germany starts with cores on france, or i overlooked it.

If that's the case, I wonder what the reason is. Germany viewed Alsace-Lorraine as an historic and rightful German province, and cores on it it will also help stop France and Germany drifting together diplomatically, which normally (i.e. unless the player wants it) they should not really do.

Pretty sure it wont start with claims.
Off the top of my head I believe that once you make a claim it is only good for 2 or 3 months, so Germany starting with a claim would be pointless. However they do have national focuses to get some.

Worst case we have to mod it in. I did it in HoI III aswell for example and also experimented around with decisions for such things. It is very easy to do.

I'll probably do a national focus for it, to start seeing Elass-Lothringen (please put the pitchforks away french people) as a core part of the german reich. That way it is more of a option for the german player.
