My suggestions to make playing as a religious leaders really fun...

- Make them responsible for giving nicknames like : The saint, The pious, The very catholic...

- Give the ability of turning on-going holly wars into crusades / jihads. When a ruler is defending against a holly war / crusade / jihad where attackers are teaming up, the religious leader can decide to make joining the defender as religious duty, if the defender demands it and the leader thinks highly of the defender... Neighboring rulers who continue their private wars instead of joining the newly called crusade / jihad would suffer a serious relation penalty with their religous leader...

- Give them the ability to remove the term "holly" from a war if they're don't like the... Joining such wars becomes sinful and results in a relation drop with the religous leader...

- Make jihads calls only possible against a none-muslim ruler who is in a holly war against a muslim ruler... This is historically more accurate + I'm sick of Fatimids' /Seljouks' jihads against the kingdom of Galicia

- Give them ability to consider a ruler they don't like as sinful ... which gives him a special trait + a relation hit with his fellow-believers who don't possess this trait. In game terms, for Catholics, this could be the first step to excommunicating someone...

- Some of these options should only be available if the religious authority is high...

Every religious stream considers itself as the true faith... a heretic never consider himself as a heretic, it's the others who are heretics, so :

- Let being heretic means having something different than the original faith... for example, in some muslim heresies, let heretic muslim women inherit titles... That would probably need to define for each religion a small set of "laws"... the reference would be the set of rules decided by the religious leader...

- Let heretics have their own religous leaders... For a catholic ruler, touching to such laws, would make him heretic... if the pope decides this ruler has became heretic, then this ruler would need to found a new church like did the king of england with the anglican church

- Jihads / Crusades against heretics should only mean that you bring the heretics back in the original faith, not conquering their holdings... I've seen a heretic England disappearing because of this!

am I too ambitious here ?!:(

(

The heresies present in the game are often actual real world religions at one time or another. It wouldn't really make sense to just make up new political rules for them simply to differentiate them for gameplay.

Might be intressting BUT seeing as this is a game with a focus on the character and the family it would be quite hard to do since at least in the catholic church the priests don't marry and don't get any children.
It would prolly be like the shortest game ever :D
